So, have you guys heard of the flower Amaryllis? It's a gorgeous red flower. But there's a story about how it came about ... it's said that there was a nymph who was in love with a man, who was really attractive and strong and all that. But her love was unrequited, so she asked this oracle for some advice on how to capture his attention. She heard that the one thing he'd like most in the world was a flower that was so unique that it didn't exist yet.

So, going by the oracle's advice, she came to his door every night for a month, and stabbed herself in the heart with a golden arrow. The guy never even answered the door for a whole month, but when he finally did, all the blood she had spilled had turned into a beautiful red flower.

I guess she died? She must have, right?

Well, whatever. It's kind of weird how so many stories say that beautiful things can only come out of tragedy.

Oh, right! His name was Apollo Justice. It seemed like he was from the future, though, because I don't think that guy even knew who he was, here ...

It appears to me that we are, for the most part, victims of displaced timelines. I, myself, along with Wright, came from the year 2019, whereas I've encountered some who have claimed to be from a few years to several decades in the past... Was he an assistant, or an attorney?

I think he was an attorney. But I don't really get the law system you guys use so I'm not a hundred percent sure.

What kind of judicial system do you have where you're from?

If someone commits a serious crime, they're either immediately executed, or sometimes there's a hearing in front of the council of elders. Then they probably get executed anyways, unless they can prove they were set up somehow.

[a little laugh] Well, the thing is, we don't really need someone to present evidence like you guys do. If someone commits a crime was can usually just look into their head and see that they've done it, if there's any doubt.

...'Look into their head'? By what means?

It's kind of hard to explain, but we can sort of look through a person's memories like you would files in a file cabinet.

In any case, what I've been hearing from the Peace Patrol gatherings serve to be quite a bit more alarming, I must say. Due to what I've been experiencing thus far, I believe I'm growing astonishingly accustomed to these sort of things.

Yeah, around here there are a lot of weird things going on, even for people who are used to weird stuff.

I've had my fair share of 'weird' for a lifetime in my short stay here. Hmph. Oh, I would never deign to burden you with such a debt... Although I'm afraid I have run out of pants and this skirt is just awfully drafty...

Hm. Just about a month. A month too long, I'd say.

Ah, clothes shopping. Such a feminine endeavor, as my friend likes to say... That is to say, with my current state of dress, I suppose I'll fit right in.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but you haven't seen much of anything, yet. That's kind of sad to say, but you sound like a guy who likes to be well prepared, so.

It's not that feminine. I mean, everyone has to go clothes shopping sometimes.

Now, if you were shopping for lingerie, you might have crossed the girly line.

I cannot disagree with you, there. But it definitely seems to me as though I am one of the select few the castle takes particular amusement in singling out, at times.

And of course it isn't. Such is just an example as to how he makes a habit out of saying idiotic things whenever possible. Unfortunately, they don't carry lingerie in my size.

In any case, I've been in a perpetual series of whirlwinds ever since I've arrived. Some people seem to be far luckier. I've spoken to people who have been here for far longer and have barely had half the misfortunes...

Well, [Ahem] in actuality, he's actually a bit of a...'straight man,' himself...Or so he claims.
