[ it's a few hours after james' announcement that ashley finally makes her own. her voice is carefully controlled, not exactly cold, but lacking much of the warmth and teasing she normally has. ]

If anyone needs me, I'm going to be outside trying to see if I can pull up a few trees.

[ she's not even kidding about that. ]

[ later, she adds a filter against kids, people she knows can't take her in a fight, and people she thinks might try to stop her. ]

Okay so... I need someone who's not afraid of a good fight. Preferably someone who can take a few super-human hits and bounce back. Kinda need to get some of this energy out. So... anyone up for something?



[ ooc: if you're unsure about the filter, feel free to assume your character can see it. she's definitely not perfect at this. ]

Y'know, normally, this would be the part where I'd ask how but under the circumstances... At least trying to hit a ghost will be a decent challenge.

[ he can phase in and out. she can teleport. perfect. ]

...Its complicated. And weird.

Yeah well, we'll see. Never really tried to fight a human with super powers before.

It'll be new for both of us, then. Good. I'm outside whenever you want to have a go.

I'll be over in a couple of minutes then. If you see a glowing kid? That's me.

I'll be the blonde girl with the talons.

[ which she will have out so he can see the impressive things and know her from a distance. ]

[True to his word, Danny shows up a few minutes later.]

Huh, nice talons.

[panicswitched]

[ she grins at him in a cocky manner. ] Nice glowing. [ her teeth are a bit different at the moment, more prominent than anything, but she's able to talk through them for now. she doesn't do much talking before she faces him and settles into a fighting stance. on hand lifts and she beckons him forward. ]

[He grins, in appreciation at the banter as much as the potential for a good cathartic fight, and leaps into the air. Bare seconds later he sends a beam of luminescent ectoplasmic energy straight at her.]

[panicswitched]

[ the energy weapons are new and that catches her off-guard. it's different and taking a few blows from that will wear her out quickly. on the flip side, she does actually use her teleportation on this, but not to its fullest potential. mostly, she uses it to dodge if she can, aiming kicks and claws at danny, though she's careful not to break his skin or hurt him if she can help it.

after a while, she teleports away and holds her hands up in surrender. ]

Okay, that was unexpected. Cool. But unexpected.

[Danny drops back to the ground with a grin on his face. He'd managed to get some target and shielding practice in. But most importantly, he'd been able to get into the rhythm of the fight a little. For a few minutes he'd been able to forget about everything that as wrong with his life right now. And that was enough to rise his mood considerably.]

That was fun! I've never tried just fighting like this before.

[panicswitched]

[ ashley grins. ]

Really helps me keep calm. Channel the energy, you know? I used spend hours in the shooting range back home.

[schrodingersghost]

"Huh. Back home I usually just had to wait for a ghost to show up. I never had to wait long."

[panicswitched]

Can't say we had ghosts, but there was usually something I needed to chase down.

Overgrown animals terrorizing the city.

[ ...she's not kidding about that, but it's hard to explain abnormals. ]

We're kinda like the city's conservationists. Chase, trap, and protect anything that escapes.

Okay, that's sounding a little familiar.

Something like what you do?

I deal with ghosts, mostly. They keep invading my town.

[panicswitched]

Sounds like yours is less conservation and more eradication.

[schrodingersghost]

Actually its more like babysitting. [He shrugs.] I track them down when they start causing trouble, shove them in the thermos and take them back to the ghost zone.

[panicswitched]

Well, at least it keeps you busy for a while? [ pause. ] And why a thermos?

[schrodingersghost]

Its an advanced ghost capturing device. [A beat.] That just happens to look and feel like a thermos.

[panicswitched]

Sweet. Sounds like some of the things we've cooked up to use. As long as it works...

Its not stupid. Even if it looks like it.

[panicswitched]
