Team Tembo: Day one

[By now you should have already woken up to your surroundings. Your camp is in the jungle, surrounded by tents, vehicles and cages full of dinosaurs. Wander around, check out the armoury, wonder why there are a bunch of dinosaurs in cages, or get yourself a tent]

I am not fit to be hunting, but there is little choice.

[ Unsure if having horses would be better or worse. She would still have trouble with her specific type of saddle due to her leg. ]

A gun is efficient, much more-so than a knife, so I had best learn to protect myself properly.

[ Since she can't rely on anyone else, clearly. Jab, but not particularly vindictive. She just literally believes it. ]

[If he disagreed, he wouldn't have gone along with it. He sees nothing wrong with a woman knowing how to handle a gun. You know, as long as she keeps her temper when she has it around him.]

You shouldn't have to worry about the hunting part. As long as you get the idea, you can scare then off with one shot.

What if I wish to take one to the castle with me?

[ Could be a joke, who knows. Her morbid sense of humor shows most when she's upset, after all, and it's better than just sulking. Maybe. ]

[She gets a glance over his shoulder, like he's taking her semi-seriously.]

It might take up most of your room, but I guess you can stuff just about anything.

A small one. ...In place of a dog.

Why not? It can't be that different.

[ensorceler]

Then if you find one, will you subdue it for me?

[gottaknockhard]

I could give it a shot. All we'd need is a leash.

[ensorceler]

A harness, I am certain. But this camp would be equipped with all that is needed.

[gottaknockhard]

Good idea. I'll pick one up when we get back.

[ensorceler]

I am not making a jest.

[gottaknockhard]

[He tries to smile less, but he isn't convinced.]

You've really got your heart set on one?

[ensorceler]

[ Another light shrug. ]

Whyever not?

[gottaknockhard]

Well, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about shedding.

[ensorceler]

With a gun, and a...dinosaur, surely none would dare question me.

Except those with magic.

[gottaknockhard]

[Spike slowly comes to a stop, turning to face her with a questioning glance. But he keeps whatever he's thinking to himself.]

There's a lot to say about intimidation.

[ensorceler]

[ She stops since he did, assuming this is far out enough. ]

It is effective, if you are to keep people at bay and be left alone.

[gottaknockhard]

... [He should probably let that one slide.]

As long as you stay in control of them, sure.

[He brings the rifle up and looks around for something they might be able to use as a target, then back to her, still a few feet away.]

You're going to have to get closer if you want to see how this works.

[ She squints at him suspiciously from underneath the hood of her hoodie before moving closer. ]

[Hey, it's a completely innocent suggestion. He's the expert, so he know what he's talking about.

He could start with how to load and unload the rifle, but he's sort of hoping she won't need more than the few rounds he saw in there.]

You have a safety here, that keeps it from firing. You want to pull this when you're ready to shoot. [He holds the rifle sideways to her, pointing as he gives directions. Then he demonstrates how to position it.] Hold it with two hands, one with your finger close to the trigger, the other keeping the rifle steady here.

When you've got your target lined up, you squeeze the trigger. [And at that, he lines himself up with a tree in front of them and looks like he's about to fire -- but then he lowers it again and flips the safety back on. No need to waste bullets and scare her away from actually using it.] That's it in a nutshell.

[ She watches with a placid expression, listening even if she appears not to be. Anne continues to look at the rifle, never him directly, even when she finally speaks up. ]

You have a bounty upon your head.

[gottaknockhard]

[That's not the response he was expecting. Although it makes him curious more than anything.]

Do I?

[ensorceler]

[ She holds her hand out for the rifle. ]

I said it once before, and I meant it for true, but it was never so clear before the news Mister Frodo brought with him.

You will lose your head.

[gottaknockhard]

[So she meant 'bounty on his head' literally then. He smiles faintly, like he always does when the subject of doom is brought up. As if she needed to say what he knows is on her mind.]

It wouldn't be the first time.

[Without elaborating, he holds the rifle out for her. It's better if he doesn't mention the odd parallels of the decisions that pushed him into his career in bounty hunting. Not when the ending is less than encouraging.]
