COMBINED CAMP: DAY THREE

[The morning ends the heavy storm, bright sunshine beaming down on the makeshift camp. Some of you may be injured from last nights incidents, but at least this is some downtime for you to recuperate. Tembo and Harding are arguing heatedly some distance from the camp, but otherwise the jungle is silent.

The camp is being visited, however. A pack of compsognathus have made their way into camp. They're little guys only ten inches high, easily the smallest residents on the island. They're currently scurrying around the camp, looking for any food to scavenge, seemingly not concerned with the people milling around]

[You could, August. It's not like she hasn't had friends here that she knew were dead back home. Like Cinna, or Rue ...] I'll do my best. [She doesn't tell him that she's in jail, waiting to be executed.]

[She sits up, and turns the meat, to make sure it's cooked on both sides.]

[She gave him a lazy little salute, before sighing and looking around.] Well, at least we're not alone when we're on these things.

Lucky us. I spent enough of my life being alone.

[She gave him a wry smile.] Good to know I've found people I can trust.

[Her smile moved up a little more, before she leaned forward and tested the meat. She nodded for a moment, before taking one of the still smoking sticks and handing it over to him.]

Breakfast is served.

You're the best, Katniss. [he takes the stick, biting into the meat. He chews and swallows] You know, somehow I'm not surprised that it tastes like chicken.

[She snorted softly, as she chewed off her own bite.] Welcome to Paradisa.

Been here almost two months already. It's never boring, that's for sure.

I don't think we've gotten enough time to be bored. It's always something. [She snorted.] And to think they were worried about what I would do with 'time on my hands'.

For me, it's a good thing to keep busy. The only thing I do with time on my hands is waste it.

[and being here, going through all this, is his price for all those wasted years]

[She tilted her head thoughtfully at him.]

What would you do, if you only had one day to live? No time to waste?

[he knows this answer because he's already done it. August meets the girl's eyes steadily]

I would spend it with my family.

[She nodded her head slowly with tilt of approval.]

So would I. [Before it had fallen so terrifically apart.]

[he smiles and then goes back to his dino meal. It's actually not that bad. Just another exotic taste for him to add to his list]

And here we are, spending our time like this. Even if it was my last day, I think it's a pretty good use of my time.
