[In his search for a field, Tenma stops by the duck pond. He carelessly tosses his bags and journal to the side, letting it record the sound of a soccer ball being kicked around]

Three! Three, Thre--uwaaa!

[He slips on a particularly slick part of the grass, landing on his backside while the ball flies up and lands in the pond. Unfortunately, that managed to hit a duck, who starts chasing him, quacking angrily.]

Gaah! I'm sorry! Ow! Ow!

[ooc: totes open, in action and over the journal]

[The incessant pecking behind him stops him and is replaced by loud, quite frantic and pained squawking as Toothless thrashes the duck in his mouth.

What? He couldn't help but take advantage of this opportunity.]

[Confused, he looks. Cue silent screaming.]

[The duck eventually goes limp in Toothless grasp. Before he devours it, though, he pauses, noticing he's being watched, and looks back at the child.

Uhh.

Hi.

Nothing to see here......]

[soccerwhisperer]

[a small whimper kind of escapes from his open mouth]

[yep

nothing to see as he just sort of gets this duck down in two bites.

and then belches

because he is a well-mannered gentledragon]

Good d--dragon...? [Yeah Tenma, back away slowly]

[forbiddenfriend]

[He looks back at Tenma, giving a light, innocent croon as he licks his lips a little, then tilts his head at the boy.]

[soccerwhisperer]

[Don't show fear Tenma don't show fear Tenma]

H--Hey, you don't want to eat me, I--I'm not very tasty!

[forbiddenfriend]

[WHAT. You are getting this look, hardcore. Where did THAT come from?]

[soccerwhisperer]

[wait he knows this look. His dog gives it to him all the time]

W--Wait, can you understand me?

[forbiddenfriend]

[Why does that always surprise people! Yeesh, there are animals who can talk around here, you'd think them just being able to understand would be no big deal in comparison...

He snorts lightly, dipping his head once in a nod.]

[soccerwhisperer]

You won't eat me, right?

[forbiddenfriend]

[The nightfury rolls his eyes before coming on over, his body and strides relaxed so he seemed nonthreatening. (He noticed humans kind of fail at understanding body language, though.)]

[soccerwhisperer]

[That's what his dog Sasuke does when he wants to attention! Tenma very cautiously and gently motions to put his hand on Toothless' snout.]

[forbiddenfriend]

[Toothless lets him, watching him all the meanwhile. When his hand finally lands on his snout, a deep, relaxed thrum comes from him, causing vibrations through Tenma's hand.]

[soccerwhisperer]

[he starts to stroke Toothless' snout gently, smiling]

[He lifts his muzzle a little, pressing it into Telma's palm, breathing a warm breath into his hand.]

[soccerwhisperer]

[he inches closer to rub between Toothless' brow]

[forbiddenfriend]

[His eyes peacefully close. He's as gentle and calm as any domesticated animal.]

[soccerwhisperer]

Hehe... You're kinda cute!

[forbiddenfriend]

[Awww

HEY WHAT. For a moment he pulls back, looking rather indignant.]

[soccerwhisperer]

[he laughs]

I'm sorry! Is cool better?

[forbiddenfriend]

[The look he's giving Tenma now is definitely puzzled. What does temperature have anything to do with this?]

[soccerwhisperer]

Should I not praise you...? [he puts his hand down, unsure of what to do]

[forbiddenfriend]

["Cool" is praise? You humans and your slang, honestly. If he really was praising him, then Toothless supposes he'll brush his snout under the boy's hand as a thank you, a deep rumble coming from him.]
