[ She doesn’t believe in this nonsense. How could she? Something like .. writing into a journal was so innocuous – it couldn’t be a means of communication. It certainly didn’t make any sense! But … on that train of thought; what about this place made sense? She was in a huge castle that somehow knew her name. Right.

After observing for a few days, this seemed like the best way to communicate with others in the castle.]

My name is Esther Blanchett.

[She can’t help it, she’s speaking under her breath as she pens the words carefully into the book. Her handwriting is neat, though a little cramped. Will someone answer back?]

I’d like to know where I am and under whose authority I am being held here. If possible I would like to be returned to Londinium as soon as possible. It is very important that I am returned home.

[There! Not too accusatory, but definitely not mild, either. Settling back in her chair, she stared at the book in front of her, willing words to appear. She would figure this out. And she would go home. It was all a matter of time.]

Oh, yes. It's .. my home. But it's .. more than that, to me. Faith is very important in my life.

Faith is a good thing to have. It gives people hope, which can be hard to come by in any world.

I'm not much of a believer though. Hope that doesn't bother you.

I agree.

[She's only a few steps behind him, far enough away that in the event of an attack, she'll be difficult to reach. Sorry, you can't fault her for being wary still.]

It doesn't bother me that you are not a believer, though I am a bit saddened. Like you said, faith and belief .. are important. I can only hope one day you find your faith.

But I see no reason why it should bother me.

Hm. Bad luck with people of faith in the past, I guess. Some of them can be a bit too into their beliefs, getting upset when others don't believe what they believe.

[He honestly isn't bothered by it; you'd be surprised how used to having others be wary of him he is.]

Besides, I don't really feel the need to find faith in anything aside myself.

To me, .. Faith is something you can only find yourself. While I can help and give you guidance and try and make sense of the aspects you don't quite understand .. I can't give you faith or belief. Perhaps I have a more laid back view than some of my colleagues but .. I can't help but think that belief and faith are far too personal for someone to just be told.

[Oh, look, she's in Lady Saint mode. And once she realizes she might have made a bit of a speech, a bit of pink touches her cheeks.]
