As much fun as it was to return to the eighties and be reminded of my college years and the... well, many follies of my youth, it's kinda nice to be back here, too.

... Looking back on it, I'm not quite sure how I thought how I looked was fashionable.

I ask that of any of the human, earth-based worlds we visit. All the clothing is so strange and restrictive. I do not see how you all stand it.

It's what we're used to, I suppose. Though some of it's more restrictive than others...

I dislike it when the Castle forces me into jeans. At least "Japan" had kimono and yukata as options.

I'd never worn a yukata before. They're very cozy.

Maybe one day you'll look back and think the same about how you look today.

It's always possible. I thought I would forever be in love with my looks any given year, after all.

Were you really that worried about clothes?

Hair, too. I wrote my first bestseller in college, and image is surprisingly important for an author.

[She frowned for a moment, pressing her hands to her knees.] What's ... college?

[OMG WHAT why doesn't she know that.]

College. Higher education. It's optional, but most people go anyway- college lets you learn about and specialize in what you want to do for the rest of your life and get better qualifications for it.

I wasn't alive then. I like some of the music from those days though.

The 80's were my high school and college years. One of the primes of my life.

Did you wear those really awesome clothes and have funny hair?

Not quite spry any more, I know.

I am sure that sometimes I did, but youthful folly also comes into play here, and admittedly some of my memories of the time period are a mite fuzzy.

Hey, don't knock 80s fashion! You liked it once before. I think it's pretty awesome.

Hey, maybe every once in a while the urge will hit to work out in leg warmers and a sweatband, like it did when I saw the exercise room in that hotel.

And then you wouldn't even have to change after because that was totally stylish. Unless you work up a sweat. Then that's just gross.

It would have been much more fashionable to just have the look without the workout.

You went to college in the eighties? [she sighs] I never thought I'd say this but I kinda miss having people around who're from the same timeframe as I am.

Yep. I was born in the late sixties- too late to enjoy them, alas.

Oooooh ouch. [she laughs] I was born in '74 and came here from '90 so I got to pretty much enjoy the whole decade.
