Open Post: Great Hall

[When the students enter the Great Hall today, they will see it decked out in black and yellow banners, with the Hufflepuff badger in prominent display. There are also a few model badgers that are moving around

The house-elves went all out in the food, serving Hufflepuff lots of cakes and cookies and other delicious treats.

Although you are divided by your houses, it's such a great party that you can visit your friends and butt into other house conversations!]

[She pushes the cookie crumbs aside.]

It won't happen next year.

[Not that she sounds at all convinced, setting her chin on her arms and sighing again, then glancing at Carolina]

So what now?

[Carolina can't help but roll her eyes a little at South. Sure, she's not particularly pleased they lost, but it's not the end of the world. Not like getting an Acceptable on an OWL.]

We go back to studying.

Oh wow doesn't that sound like fun.

[To Sheridan it is the end of the world. Once again her Brother comes out on top and she's got another failure to deal with. She picks at her sleeve.] I can't wait for summer.

You're at school for a reason, you know. [Raising an eyebrow over at South. It's going to be a long school year if she's already looking forward to Summer.]

Yeah, because there's nothing else to do until I'm an adult.

It's good for you. [Another eye roll.]

So is winning the cup. [Glaring at Carolina.] Come on don't you think of anything but studying?

[Carolina clearly just doesn't understand the life-or-death circumstances involved in the Quidditch Cup. At the question, her thoughts definitely drift toward York and the pictures that they'd taken in Hogsmeade. Like the one that was carefully tucked inside her book. There's a momentary distracted pause before she answers,]

Being the best wizard in the school doesn't come from obsessing over Quidditch.

Uh-huh. [Sheridan saw that faraway look, and she's regarding Carolina with faint disbelief.] Because that's really something worth striving for.

It is to me. [Just to prove her point, she opens up her book to the page she'd been reading and one corner of the photograph peeks out from its pages. Said photograph is of her and York eating a liquorice wand while smiling goofily over at each other. So sweet it'll melt South's teeth.]

[Sheridan's about to dismiss herself from the conversation with a look of disgust, but yeah that picture grabs her attention, and she darts forward to yank it out for a better look.]

What's this? This doesn't look like studying!

[Carolina reaches out to try and stop her and doesn't succeed. That doesn't stop her from trying to still snatch the photograph back.]

Nothing! [Getting a little pink in the face.]

[Sheridan twists her back to Carolina and clutches the picture while she studies it. Realizing who she's with and what they're doing, she looks back at Carolina with horror and whispers (loudly),]

What are you doing with a Gryffindor?

[Well she'll still do her best to try and reach around South to grab the picture back.]

We just-- [Fuck fuck fuck. They really hadn't done anything, just been silly goofballs and talked for hours like total strangers who are not at all attracted to each other do.] Nothing!

[Sheridan shoots her hand into the air with the picture to keep it away form Carolina.]

You were making googly eyes at a Gryffindor!

[Carolina can't stand up on the bench to get the picture back, as York would for sure and see and decide she's just an immature sixteen-year-old. So, she'll do as much reaching as she can from a seated position.]

Give it back! I wasn't making googly eyes.

[Sheridan pulls the picture down and jabs a finger at it.] Then what's this?! You're certainly not looking at him with hatred and comtenmpt. Traitor.

[With it much closer, Carolina at least snags one corner of the picture again, trying to grab it back without tearing it.] We're just eating candy. He said he wanted it so he could remember Hogwarts better.

[assassino]

[Interjecting:]

There is no "next year" for some of us.

[She sits back and spreads her arms wide.]

See? See? Utter travesty, is what it is! [She looks at Carolina and motions to Ezio.] This guys knows how awful it is! I's really awful, like ... the worst!

You can root for professional teams. [There is the Quidditch World Cup, after all.]

Do I look like a professional player? It is aggravating to lose.

[youfallback]

[She nods at that, because she can understand coming in second once or twice.] It's not the end of the world, though. England could go to the finals this year.

Yeah well good for them. I probably won't get to any of their games anyway.
