Open Post: Great Hall

[When the students enter the Great Hall today, they will see it decked out in black and yellow banners, with the Hufflepuff badger in prominent display. There are also a few model badgers that are moving around

The house-elves went all out in the food, serving Hufflepuff lots of cakes and cookies and other delicious treats.

Although you are divided by your houses, it's such a great party that you can visit your friends and butt into other house conversations!]

Did you see her? She's scary! I kinda like not getting stabbed, thank you. [Flushing a little because, hello, physical contact. She pats at her hair self-consciously.] Why didn't you throw it?

[He chuckles, shifting down the bench so he can sit closer to her, almost shoulder to shoulder.
She's cute.]

I don't swing at girls.

Even so, you seemed plenty brave. I admire a girl who will take on others.

[Se flushes a little brighter and laughs nervously, be cool, Sheridan, be cool.]

Yeah well, I could take her, you know. I was just, I didn't want to spoil breakfast. I mean, there'd be like, food everywhere, and, uh, it'd get really messy, yeah? If I messed with her.

So? We could get dirty and then all go skinny dipping in the lake to clean off.

[Suggestive grin.]

[She goes dead silent and her face flushes bright red, and then she laughs again, nervously, and perhaps a tad too loud.]

Aaah, hahaha, yeah I uh, I guess we, yeah ...

[Come on Sheridan say something cool you're going to scare him off]

We, uh. We .... still .... could?

[He reaches for the pudding, dips his finger in it, and then playfully reaches over to wipe it on her cheek -- just a little bit.]

Oops. It has begun.

[South freezes, because this is a cute boy giving her attention and she doesn't want to frighten him away, but her heart is pounding so loud it's hard to think. She smiles a little broadly and stupidly, and reaches for the pudding as well. She hesitates a moment before putting a dollap on his nose.]

Whooops.

[He grins, leaning in close enough to her that his shoulder is pressed tight against hers and his face is scarcely a foot away.]

Now that we are both dirty, don't you think we should be getting to the lake?

[INTERNAL SCREAMING and her face is bright red.]

Haha-yeah, sure, let's do that.

[He offers his hand to her with a smile.]

[She takes it with a smile. And some fumbling. And she's forgetting her books but that's okay. Obviously this is more important.]
