[Danny was lost again. He could remember being so happy as a full ghost. He'd had friends and things to do and a afterlife that he enjoyed. He hadn't had any of the doubts that constantly weighed him down as a half ghost.

He'd been free.

And there was a small part of him that wanted nothing more than to go back to that. What was wrong with him?

He was still half-human, right? How could he have been so happy as a ghost?]

Yeah, so... Week stuck in magic school as a full ghost. Just another happy therapy inducing memory, courtesy of the castle.

I guess... it just seemed normal? I didn't have to fight anyone or worry about what my family would think. I didn't have to hide anything!

Danny, what do you think your family would say if they knew?

I don't know! That's the problem. They found out once in an alternate timeline, and they accepted me then.

But that was an alternate timeline. What if they decide that my ghost half is possessing me or something? What f they think I need to be cured or that I'm evil?

[An alternate timeline? It takes her a minute to piece that together, but she pieces it together, her brows knitting together in thought.]

You seriously think if they accepted you once, they may not accept you again? Danny, think about this for a second. They're your parents; have you ever done something that you thought for sure they'd never forgive you for...

... but they did?

I don't think they'd try to kill me for being a ghost. But they might decide that the ghost is hurting me. That I'm possessed or something. They might try and get rid of it, and that doesn't work!

...No. They don't know anything about what I really do.

Then you would nee to show them it's not like that; that it's part of you and it would hurt if they tried to remove it. Parent usually don't like seeing their children in pain.

Now, are you talking being a ghost that they don't know, or just being a teen-ager?

Because they'd say that that's just what an evil ghost would want them to think. You don't understand. they hate ghosts. They think ghosts are evil and manipulative and always, always, lie. If they through they were saving me...

...They'd go through with it...

[She's quiet a moment, surprised and angry at the similarity to something on her world, and her protective nature rears its head.]

Danny...While you're here, you can turn into a ghost at any time, right?

Um, yeah? Except when the castle pulls something. Or in the dead zone.

And are you happy then?

[She's got a point, really.]

Um, sort of? I guess I'm not unhappy. I mean, it really sucks being grounded, but I can deal.

Yeah, I can understand not liking your powers being gone, but unfortunately, this place likes to do that.

But, whether you're Danny as a human or ghost with your powers, or Danny without your powers, you're still you at your core.

And that's what counts.

[And she thinks his parents may actually realize that one day.]

Tell that to everyone else.

[But he sounds a little happier behind the grumbling.]

Don't worry, I will; but, I don't think I'd have to. People probably already know it.
