Accompanying the terrible screeching is a low thudum-thudum-thudum. This continues for about a minute before the Once-ler manages to grab hold of his journal, laughing nervously into the pages]

Sooo hey. Quick FYI. You guys might want to avoid the Laundry Room until tomorrow. Not that there's anything to worry about. Mostly.

Whoaaaah just stay in that corner of the room. Oh jeez you're getting Tide everywhere.

I might have experimentally given one of he tumble dryers legs. And then I was tinkering about in the back of it, just fooling around and I miiiiight have given it a teeny tiny slither of self awareness. Like the teeniest. Hardly anything, really.

[Screeeech. Thudum-thudum-thudum]

I think it's mad.

If it's self aware I'd rather make sure it can't actively seek out people when it gets angry. I think the legs have to go. I should be able to hold it down while you remove them, sound like a plan?

But then it'll just sit there, being self aware and not being able to go anywhere. That'd be downright cruel.

I don't think that's something we'll have to worry about. It shouldn't really need to eat.

I still want to keep it, see i I can tinker with it. Make it into something useful and not violent.

Sure. We've got the stairs to navigate, but I guess we could try.

It has't got eyes, and even if it has magical invisible ones I'm pretty sure it cant read. So we should be good.
