[Dairine is in the kitchen, making herself some late night hot chocolate. Odd, but not that odd, right?

Yet anyone who knows her well can probably tell that something is off. Her eyes seem a bit distant, and her frown is more pronounced than usual. Something seems to be troubling the young wizard.

[it isn't as if they've been around each other enough for Sayaka to notice anything off in particular, but she is in the kitchen as well, fiddling with a jar. Darine gets a glance in her direction to pass for greetings]

[It takes her a moment, but Dairine returns the glance. Oh, hi there.

She gives Sayaka a silent nod of acknowledgment before returning to the task at hand. Yum, hot chocolate.]

[when the top refuses to give, she turns her attention away to what little activity is happening in the vicinity]

...Hot chocolate at this hour?

[Dairine shrugs as she stirs the cup.]

Yeah. Why not?

Eh, 's your choice. [her bff has juice, that's just as weird to her. She'll open a cupboard to put the jar in] Marshmallows?

[ jet doesn't know her, and doesn't realise anything is amiss, but he does smell something unfamiliar and good. good-naturedly: ]

Hey. What's that?

[Dairine looks up from her seat at the kitchen table. She answers simply:]

Hot chocolate.

[jetset]

Chocolate? [ he peers. ] I thought that stuff was a snack. I didn't realise you can drink it too.

If you melt it in milk or water you can.

[Peeta runs his fingers through his hair. Another nightmare. They were becoming his constant companion.

He yawns, blinking in the harsh light of the kitchen.]

Dairine?

[Dairine blinks and looks towards the voice. ...Ah.]

Hey, Peeta. [She gives him a little wave.]

[peeta_bread]

[He wanders over to the cabinets and starts searching for the tea.

He glances over at her with a frown.]

Something troubling you?

[Tea's probably a smarter choice for this hour of the night.

Dairine sips her hot cocoa before answering.]

Nothing really. [Which is her sneaky way of not admitting anything.]

Dair? [He's down here because he's actually still awake. The best time to get food and everything is at night.]

Hmm? [Dair glances over towards Bucky.]

Oh. Hi Bucky. Coming down for a midnight snack?

[blue_sniper]

You can say that. What are you doing down here this late?

[Dairine gives a little shrug.]

I was thirsty.

[A soft rumbling comes from a Nightfury as he skulks up next to Dairine. She hasn't said a thing, and just from body language alone, he can tell something's up.]

[Oh yes something is definitely up. Lost in thought, Dairine doesn't even notice the dragon's approach - odd for someone as observant as her. She just continues stirring her drink.]

[His wing lightly brushes against her to let her know he's there.]

[Dairine blinks and looks over at the touch.]

Oh. Hey there, buddy. [Not exactly the most energetic greeting today. Night. Whatever.]

The meeting went that bad?

[It's barely a question. Dairine might not have noticed anything particularly wrong with the meeting (other than the bickering but hey, that’s to be expected in a group that size), but the responses have been VERY troubling.]

Sarge is one of the most dedicated people I know. Completely and totally committed to making sure everyone's asses are safe.

So, yeah. It's that bad. And it's all my goddamn fault for writing up those stupidass rules that nobody wants anyway.

[Oh... That was admittedly not on her list of possible problems. But with her THE Doctor gone off to the Dead Zone with only a journal entry’s farewell, Dair gets what he’s feeling. Sorta.

Now Dairine hasn't officially met "Sarge" yet, but there weren't too many female members walking out. She thinks she gets the picture.

Except that picture ain't matching up with Mark’s.]
