SCREEEEEEEEECH!

[A pause and then...]

SCREEEEECH SCREECH SCREECH!

[One can almost see Albus scratching his head and sighing.]

It cannot translate Mermish. What a shame. I had hoped to share a poem I once read on a stone underwater. Clearly that will not be possible.

I do apologize if I startled anyone. Mermish is a curious language. It is most unpleasant on the ears above water and yet it is almost lyrical once you join the Mermaids in their natural environment.

Holy shit. What kind of person unleashes this kind of torture on the ears of innocent bystanders.

Maybe next time you should try speaking it submerged. Or at least through a glass of water.

Yeah, at least bump that shit into beta before dropping it on the unwitting public. And, I dunno, these things don't seem all that waterproof to me.

[There's the sound of him briefly flipping the pages, comparing them to the paper he's used to.]

Real, actual magic. Like the kind from a couple weeks ago? Only realer, 'cause that didn't last too long.

So you're like. A wizardly pro, armed with a windswept beard that my sister would write novels about. She'd dedicate a paragraph just to describing your mystic whiskers, fyi, even if you haven't got them.

Careful, dude, you might be treading a path you don't want to go down, especially if she catches wind of it. But who knew, the high fantasy novels and movies got something right.
