[Will had been thinking again.  He hadn't had much else to do, these last few weeks.]

I've been wondering something recently. What do Dark and Light mean to you? It seems like every person I've met has a different idea of what they mean.

[He pauses.]

Also, is there anything anyone needs any help with?  I haven't much to do, these days.  And I would like to do something useful with my days.

Well, there's a Dark Side and a Light Side of the Force, and together they bind the galaxy together.

...Just kidding, but that does give a pretty good illustration of how it actually works. Two powerful opposing forces, each drawing from the same power source. Only with fewer lightsaber battles.

Only the coolest weapon ever. You seriously have never heard of Star Wars* before?

[Dairine is shocked! Horrified! Baffled!]

But... how?!

I don't know. I've just never heard of anything named that.

[Will gives her the directions.]

[Soon enough, there's a knock at the door. When he opens it, he will find Dairine carrying a large bag and Spot under her other arm.]

Hi. I forgot to ask, do you have a DVD or VCR player?

[lightbranded]

No, I don't think I do.

[He had a radio?]

[wizard_redfive]

[She waves her hand.]

That's OK. I can set Spot up for this. Where would you like the screen to be?

[lightbranded]

Anywhere?

[Will was a little lost in all this talk of modern technology. The most his family had ever had was a small television that spent most of the year in a cabinet.]

[Dairine nods as she walks into the room, glancing around to get a feel for the layout..]

Got it. [She knows what she's doing, so she can probably find a good place to set things up.]

[He watches with a faintly puzzled air about him.]

[Moving to a blank space of wall, she sets Spot down on the table. Dairine types a few commands, plugs in a DVD drive into the laptop, places the DVD into the drive, and then flips down Spot's screen.]

You ready, Spot? [A pause as Spot silently confirms YES with her.] Hit it.

[With that, Spot projects the DVD menu onto the wall. Dairine turns to Will.]

What do you think? Will this be OK?

[Will stares at this with confusion.]

What is that?

[Dairine blinks but isn't too surprised by the question. After all, she's met a number of people from times before modern technology by now.]

That... [She points to the wall.] ...is what a projector looks like. That... [points to the DVD drive] is a DVD player. And that... [points to the laptop-style Manual] ...is Spot.

Is it like a film reel?

[Dairine snickers a little.]

It's a little more high-tech than that, but the basic principles are the same: a bunch of still images played fast enough to make it look like they're in motion.
