056 - PREMONITION
[Right on the heels of that mysterious broadcast Phoebe hastily dictates into her journal]
Did anyone else hear that? I've never heard his voice before, does anyone know who he is?
[Her hand is reaching for her radio as she speaks]
It's so weird, I didn't think anyone else co-
[Her words cut off in a sharp gasp as her fingers take hold of the device and the premonition slams into her mind. Her grip tightens as her eyes snap shut, images floating behind her eyelids. The whole thing takes less than a minute but it leaves her breathless as she comes back to herself. She takes a shakey breath, looking down at the radio for a moment as she processes what she just saw. Setting it down she takes up her pen and writes in a filter in a shakey hand]
[Filtered AWAY from anyone who would use this for harm or share it with anyone who would do so. Filtered AWAY from first gens EXCEPT Damsel, Reno, Flora and the man who just spoke through the radio.]
[Her voice is a little unsteady as she speaks]
I just had a premonition... a group of people. Twenty, maybe thirty of them. I've never seen them before but some of them looked like they were hurt. They're all looking up at the sky like they're afraid of something up there. [She pauses to take a breath] They're in one of those western towns in the Dead Zone. I think the man who just spoke to us is telling the truth. A group of us should go out there and see if we can help these people.

Hey handsome. Come here often?

Only when I take my husband on a date.

Can you believe that less than a day before I learned how to do this I was ranting about the stereotypes of witches on brooms and all that Halloween stuff?
[With a laugh she gently brushes the bristles along the grass at her feet. Energy flickers along the bristles and it jumps up into her hand. With a wink she sits on it, letting her feet lift off the ground]

[it's cool how that works. At Hogwarts, all Peter had to do was say "Up" and the broom would jump in his hand. Phoebe's way, oddly enough, seems more magical to him. He sits behind her, an arm around her waist]
Flying was always my favorite power.

Oh yeah. It was Halloween and we were all dressed up in costumes to go out. Turns out we were supposed to have some sort of "test" of our powers that day and we were all sucked into a portal and brought to the past. [a glance over her shoulder] Glinda, a "Nature Witch" with a strapless black dress and Elvira suddenly showing up in 1670.
[With a laugh she nudges the broom upward and off they go]

It really was incredible, though. We learned a lot and saved Melinda Warren - the woman who started the Halliwell line of witches.

We had better luck with the past than the time we went to the future.
[You know, the time she was burned at the stake?]

That's one power I don't miss, if I were honest.

Yeah it's one of the reasons why I've never wished we had more access to it than we did. I'm fine with the brief glimpses I get but there are some things that no one should be able to do.

I like what I have. Even as hard as it is sometimes to control.

Me, too. Though, truth be told, I do sometimes miss being able to levitate.
