Forty Third Sip

[So, in an effort to make her feel...less angry about the events of the last few days, Maladict has gone into town, deciding to throw herself more into her best person duty. After all, if Brock was stupid happy stupid enough to want to get married, he should at least have a decent sendoff. And the art was in the preparation for this sort of thing, she was sure. She flicks through her journal as she walks]

You know, I never thought it would be this easy to find Seamstresses in this world. Guess I was wrong. Seems it's forever the most common profession if people want it to be or not. Nice to know some things are the same here as they are back home.

[Brock]
Candy Muff or Diamond Slick.

Pick one.

[Nikola]
[Ugh, this is not easy to say, especially after her 'you have to make right what you did' rant. Humble pie does not taste good at all]

So, I won't be guarding you any more. I'll probably visit or...something. But no more guarding.
vampirize: (mmmm yeah no)

[He does sound moderately surprised, though he's heard rumblings about the Peace Patrol and wonders if this has to do anything with that.]

Really? Why? I didn't scare you away with my constant veiled insults to the castle, did I?
vampirize: (you're boring me over here)

Maladict

[personal profile] vampirize 2012-02-26 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course they did.

[A pause.]

So you're calling it quits, then? Don't blame you. I've been sideyeing them ever since they rather forgot about me rotting in jail for the last several months.
unnaturalpause: (r. [you have the power to])

[He shouldn't.

He really, really shouldn't but curiosity is a *thing* of his.
]

Seamstresses? May I ask as to why you are looking for them? [And a pause, because he's learning.] And what does that mean in your world, precisely?
vampirize: (now let me explain)

Maladict

[personal profile] vampirize 2012-02-26 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, brainwashing Legato is one thing but a government?! Really? Whose brilliant idea was that?

[Tesla has never had a good view of government, really. They tended to backstab him when he least suspected it, not to mention send people to kill him after he went out with a plan for a death ray, I mean, really.]

Well, hopefully they can quickly get this mess sorted up so I can stretch my legs again. Honestly, I'm afraid I'm becoming allergic to space at this point.
unnaturalpause: (r. [No No This])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-26 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[This IS awkward now that he's figured it out.]

If, I, am reading this, correctly [because things and just why did he have to ask?], you are, looking for, ladies of the night correct? [What are modern terms?]
unnaturalpause: (r. [we're here now])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-26 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I know what a vampire is Maladict. [Lady of Ze Night huh? He'll mark that down for later harassment.]

And we are, speaking of the, correct phrase then. [laksjdfsa why didn't Nikola answer this? WHY COULDN'T IT BE HIM?] Seamstresses on Earth, are, not women of that line of work.
unnaturalpause: (r. [Excuse Me?])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-26 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[It is perfectly fair. After all his Victorianisms are fair game.]

No, Maladict. While it is nice of you to care about my health, which is perfectly fine by the way, you, are, missing the point. [A deep breath before he goes on to hide that slight hint of shame in his voice.] Seamstresses, Maladict, work on clothes.
unnaturalpause: (r. [oh yes])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-27 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Just, just groan. WHY MAL?]

But, the, seamstresses...[Groan. Hold on looking up the dictionary definition of these words. And writing them down.]

Seamstress:

a woman whose occupation is sewing

Prostitute

a : a woman who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse especially for money : whore
b : a male who engages in sexual and especially homosexual practices for money

Do you see the difference?
unnaturalpause: (t. [Now Why?])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-27 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
It is a, particular view on gender and what roles are socially acceptable on Earth. [And ignoring the rest of that. IGNORING IT. Because he's bright red and so glad he's in his room.]

...and yet did you bother to insure, that the ones you picked up here are of the profession you are looking for?
samson: (:S)

Maladict

[personal profile] samson 2012-02-27 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Pick"... these are stripper names. [Brock knows a lot about strippers, as you can imagine.]
unnaturalpause: (r. [Of Course You Are])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-27 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Why can't you harass Helen like this? WHY NOT?] I imagine she was. [Uncomfortable James is uncomfortable but moving on.] However, women are more commonly seen in such a profession then men.

And just, making sure. Because I would worry about your word choice in such a situation is all.
samson: (moral ambiguity and weirdness)

Maladict

[personal profile] samson 2012-02-27 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I might get killed if I pick one.

... Candy Muff.
unnaturalpause: (r. [now what?])

[personal profile] unnaturalpause 2012-02-27 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Not fair.] I would not say such good health care, unfortunately not many treat others, that well.

And are you, certain that whomever you are, gathering these ladies of, certain reputation, would appreciate the thought?
