[Bucky's not in the ballroom with everybody else, or whoever decided to go to the ballroom. He's actually sitting in the lobby, with a bunch of candles around him. There's a book of matches next to him, too, since there seems to be a magical draft in here. Thanks, Castle. There also seems to be a wished-up bottle of the worst tasting whiskey in the world and a shot glass.]

Hey, are all of you guys all right? You aren't stuck anywhere, are you? If you want some company [or to keep him company] I'm in the lobby. Can't miss me. There's a ton of candles.

(OOC: You probably know if you're Bucky's friend or not. This is also open to anybody who wants to walk by and see him there.)

[Dairine, despite her bravado, looks stricken. She had no idea. Here she thought it was going to be related to the fighting and bloodshed during the war. No knowing where or when the enemy might strike. But this is different.]

So you’re worried that the sounds are just you. That you’re hallucinating again.

Yes. [He pauses here.] I also think I see and hear the dead soldiers, the ones in my company. I'm a Sergeant, you know. And I... I let them die. On the battlefield, in the HYDRA factory... [He takes a deep, steadying breath.]

Bucky. [She says, trying to get his attention.]

[He looks over at her.] Dairine.

[Dairine isn't sure she'll say the right thing, but that's never stopped her from trying.]

It's not your fault.

It probably isn't. Doesn't stop me from thinking about it. [Quietly.] Doesn't stop me from thinking about any of it.

[Alright. Let’s try something different.]

Well then, how about you listen to me for a bit? Maybe it'll take your mind off things.

All right. [He'll listen to her talk anytime, really. Especially if it possibly might distract him.]

[Good. Now, what to talk about...]

Know anything about Mars?

...No. [He's not even quite sure where it is.]

Really? [Now that's a bit of a surprise.]

Dair, I grew up in an orphanage. They taught us basic things, like how read and write and do simple math. That's basically all they could do.

Ah, right. [He's a bit early for the Mars hype anyway.]

Mars is another planet in our solar system. It's the fourth planet from the sun, right after Earth. You can actually see it in the night sky sometimes.

...Huh. I never even knew to look. So, what about it?

[Dairine smiles big.] I've been there.

What's it like, then?

[Dairine closes her eyes to think about that.]

Empty, I guess. It’s cold, windy, and has almost no atmosphere. I wouldn't be able to visit without a force field.

But the view makes up for it. Seeing the red landscape under a pink sun and violet sky… Getting to stand on the top of the largest known shield volcano in the solar system… There's nothing quite like it.

I imagine. [He smiles at her.] I've never been anywhere that special, really. Just all over Europe.

Hey, Europe is cool too! Earth has lots of interesting places to visit. Can't say I do much local traveling though...

[Yeah, when you're an intergalactic traveler, Earth is "local."]

Can't say I went to any of them. The only places i really saw were London and the Alps. [And look how those turned out.]

[Shush. We are not thinking of those things today!]

No Alps for me. Just the Himalayas.

The Himalayas, huh? You've been all over the place.

Here and there.

The Himalayas are a good place to bring guests. It's very scenic.

So if the Castle ever randomly turns into the Himalayas, you'll take me to the top of one of the mountains?

If you want me to.

Heck, if it turns into Mars, I'll show you the view from Olympus Mons.
