[There is the sound of uneasy, pacing footsteps for a few moments]

This is really stupid, but could someone come walk with me to the library? I don't want to go alone.

[A brief pause in the writing to add]

With maybe a stop at the kitchen? I'm sure everyone up there is hungry.

Where are you right now? I'll be there in a moment.

[Not too long after there'll be a knock on her door, just to be safe he'll also write in the journal.]

I'm here.

[She appreciate it. Safer than a secret knock, even.

A moment later she's opening the door smiling sheepishly, a slightly inquisitive glance spared for his getup

She stops to scrawl a message for him.]

Thanks for doing this.

[whistles_the_blues]

[He may be a robot from the future, but his sense of fashion is back from the 80's. He'll shrug when he reads the message, then he'll quickly jot down.]

Don't worry about it, let's move.

[quickly written back]

You ok with a quick pit stop?

Promised I'd bring up supplies.

[whistles_the_blues]

[He nods, then writes back.]

Do have a backpack or duffle bag? I may as well carry some things as well.

[She nods and ducks back into the room a moment, coming back with a large leather bookbag. Better than nothing. She steps out into the hall, closing the door behind her, and nods down the hallway.

Let's go]

[whistles_the_blues]

[He'll take the bag and sling it over his shoulder. That way he can carry things and be keep his arms free if necessary.

He'll nod in response and start taking off down along the hallway. Each step makes a pretty distinct little thud as he goes, it's what happens when you're made of metal.]

[Well, she certainly hopes they weren't trying for stealthy.

Wade scribbles a note as they walk, and shows it to him]

We've talked, right?

[whistles_the_blues]

[He'll take a glance at the note and there might be a hint of a smile before he nods in response.

It's a little hard to be sure as they had only spoken over the journal, but there aren't many other robots around that she could have spoken too.]

[She smirks a little back and starts writing another note, though she doesn't finish it until they reach the kitchen, since writing and walking isn't very easy]

You're not what I expected. I met a robot on a world I visited once, but all his metal was on the inside.

[whistles_the_blues]

[He'll glance at the note and smile a just a little at that.]

I get that a lot.

Most of the metal showing on the outside is armour, I could remove it and pass off as a human easier, but I think at the moment it's best if I left it on.

What all do we need to bring?

Snacks for the people in the library.

[She grinned as she added-] You raid the cabinets and I get the fridge?

[whistles_the_blues]

Sure.

[Do you know one thing that a robot who's wandered alone for years hasn't had to worry about? Eating. He just doesn't have to do that with his faulty solar core. So when he gets to the cabinets he's going to stare for a moment.

He'll grab some things without much trouble; Chips, cookies, some cereal bars. There'll be some oddities in the mix too; like a box of salt, cake mix, chocolate chips. He'll even grab a bag of sugar, kids love that stuff, right?]

[She comes back with a few bags of fruit, cheese, and cans of soda, and pauses as she looks at what he's gathering, her lips curling into a smirk]

Planning on baking a cake?

[whistles_the_blues]

Something wrong with that?

[Okay so he has no idea what he's doing, how does human food even work?]

[She almost wants to pat him on the head]

We'd have to do that here, for starters

[whistles_the_blues]

Of course. I knew that.

[He's just going to remove the cake mix from his bag, the other mismatched items can stay... Mainly because he has no idea what he's doing but would never admit it.]

[She laughs silently and reaches in to take out the sugar and things, though after a moment she adds a bag of chocolate chips. Hey, why not?]

[whistles_the_blues]

[He'll look a little disgruntled after that laugh of hers, but he'll shrug it off after a moment and write.]

Are we done here?

[freeslider]

[Oh, don't be like that. She smiles crookedly at him and nods, and then, quickly gives him a friendly peck on the cheek in gratitude]

[whistles_the_blues]

[Oooooookay. That is actually a first for him, and he's just going to stand there dumbfounded for just a moment. He's not used to be thanked for things that he does as he usually bails out before anyone can do that.

It takes him a second but once he collects himself, he'll just nod and pull the bag over his shoulder and walk toward the door. He wont write anything else for the moment, he's far too embarrassed.]

I would have come to get you, but I see someone already has that covered - I'm glad you have some company. We'll look out for you when you get here.

I wish there was something I could do. Is there anything I can bring?

Well, if you're stopping by the kitchen, I don't think anyone here would say no to whatever snacks you feel like bringing to share.

Whenever you get here I can go over what we're researching if you want to help - but honestly, we'll be glad just to know someone else is safe.

That was the plan.

I'm not a stranger to research, but I haven't been in school for a few years.

Neither have any of us, I'd imagine. We'll figure it out as we go along.

I just hope we figure it out fast enough.
