Halloween is... for candy and costumes, right? Scary movie marathons, haunted houses. [There's a short, thoughtful pause here.] Or haunted castles, I guess.

This is first Halloween, for me. Not really sure... how it works. What do you do, where you're from?

Will need a costume...

[For anyone who happens to be out on a walk today, Cass can be found sitting on the grass outside the castle with a rather large pumpkin, a set of plastic carving tools, and an electric carving knife that's been kind of tossed off to the side. Apparently, the castle decided to get cute with her when she asked for something to carve her pumpkin with.]

Yeah, we do. I mean the Grinch is mostly this big fable thing, but it's tradition and we always do it.

I've never even heard of it. We only have one holiday. [And it is the worst holiday of all time.]

We were supposed to help out at a local department store, but it apparently was cancelled. It's a long story, but we got costumes for it!

...Someone once mistook me for someone out too early for Halloween.

...It was July.

That's the only Halloween related experience I have.

Can't say I ever caught their name. It was before I arrived here, years ago in a city I was passing through.

Where I'm from? I don't know - to be honest, it's not really a big deal there. It's more of a foreigner thing, you know? But there's a few costume parties and masquerade balls and stuff like that. I mean, even if it's not big, nobody's going to turn down a chance to dress up and have some fun.

[Ah, if only she had been plucked from a later time period, then she might be a liiittle more enthusiastic. But in the exciting world of 199X Japan, Halloween is only just beginning to gain steam]

Will probably... be parties, here. Had one for May, why not... Halloween, too?

Oh, me? I came from Japan... though, not the same Japan a lot of other people around here come from. There's nothing weird about it or anything, it's just that- okay, so it was still the nineties when I first came here, right? But everybody else said it was two-thousand-something the last they remember.

Halloween is my favorite holiday. It's handled differently here...but it's more fun! Usually something predictable but "scary" happens, but we're still dressing up and trick-or-treating with the local kids.
