Heartbreak Melodies [ dictated + action ]
[ Private to Felix Harrowagate ]
I miss Florence.
[ /Private to Felix ]
[ That completed - or not, since so much rested on Felix simply knowing what Ashura meant, but he had not the strength to spell it out in flowery language - the king returned to his book. But, rather than being in his room, he was ensconced in the library, near the fire place, which kept merrily glowing in part thanks to Ashura occasionally feeding it some extra power.
He was flipping through a large book that detailed Italian Renaissance fashion, art, and court life, and also delved into the religious contexts of the time. One might think he would stay away from such things given what had just happened, but his curiosity had only been piqued. It was an intriguing time, if you discounted the terror instilled by men of the Christian faith. He was sincerely glad it had never appeared in his own time... ]
What an intriguing place Earth always turns out to be when we are made to visit. I think, for the first time, we were sent to a world about as extravagant as I am. I admit I almost miss the dresses I was afforded there, but I much prefer my people's robes.
[ He is going to politely ignore the atrocities witness and delivered, because sometimes that's what you did. You cut out the bad, remembered the good, and moved on. ]

Ashura
You always were sentimental.
Re: Ashura
One of my better qualities, really.
[ The other's answer, though, and not out right dismissing him gave him a tiny flutter of warmth. ]
Ashura
[He'd moved out expressly to avoid seeing Ashura for awhile, knowing that the months of their initial meetings and beginning of their relationship loomed in the near future, only to have the castle throw them back together again]
Re: Ashura
I think for most situations, it seems to work well....
I miss more than Florence, you know.
[ He feared he had pushed to far in that single sentence, but it was the truth, a truth he had bit his tongue on and let torment him. He wanted to move on, but he couldn't. Gods, why was love so hard? ]

You shouldn't.
no subject
I should not, but I do. The heart rarely listens to the mind.
[ Maybe as they had been had always been doomed, but could they not work something out? Could they not try? He longed at night for Felix's weight beside him in the bed, the smell of him on the sheets and his warmth. He would come out into the living room, still expect to see him or find himself wondering if he should take Felix lunch at Chimera.
Months since their parting, and he still ached. ]
I cannot stop missing it.

A place we need not stay.
[ He would try again. He had thought and thought and he knew he would try again. If Yasha appeared, he could not say that he would not leave Felix for him, for that chance to love him as he had always meant to. He understood Felix's decision, at least on some level, and it made it impossible to hate him as much as he wanted.
If anything, he wanted him more now, to hole in his life still gaping and raw. ]

I know that, Felix. Believe me, I know. But I what I feel now... I cannot continue on like this Felix. Like it as not, you have carved yourself a place in my life. And I cannot ignore your absence in it. What shall we ever attain if we keep turning away scared?
no subject
[He doesn't have the patience for this. And even though it was him that struck the first blow, he can't forget the moment Ashura cast him out of their apartment. So very familiar to the time Shannon had turned on him. It stung even still. And maybe it was pride or maybe it was fear, but he wasn't sure if he could put himself in that position again, despite the love that ached beneath the surface
Felix sighs]
What, exactly, are you trying to say?
no subject
[ What indeed? So many things, in so many ways, and none of the words he had right enough to tell what it was roiling himself of him. That had been roiling inside of him for a long while now.
He gulped, sighing slowly on his side, his fingers stroking the pages of the journal, the crack of the fire sounding in the silence. ]
I would cross the chasm that lies between us, Felix. I tire of being on the far side, away from you. I would rather spend as many days with you as I might before we are forcibly parted, if we ever are at all.
[ He didn't mean for it to be so flowery, but he wasn't sure how else to say it. It was the first thing to come to mind, that analogy, and it was true. ]

[Dictated]
[Other things, not so much, but it had been fun, in the beginning. There's a pause as he notes the flutter of pages]
Are you in the library?
Re: [Dictated]
Heh, that I am. Curiosity demanded I find a book detailing that place'a history. It's quite an interesting tomb, though I think others will probably be more in depth.
[Dictated]
That's usually the way to go about it. Start general, move on to the details from there.
Re: [Dictated]
[ He'll read to you if you want, Howl. Even hold up the book to show you the pictures. ]
It makes me wonder how the Castle chooses where and when to send us. All the places seem to have been on Earth or versions of Earth at one point or another.
[Dictated]
Well, there were those spaceships, but I suppose they were made on earth...
[Probably, anyway.]
I don't know. Maybe the castle just really loves the place.
Re: [Dictated]
[ Nothing embarrassing about working around an obstacle. ]
Oh yes, those... perhaps it draws from the memories of the majority planet represented here? Most people seem to hale from some version of that world after all.
[Dictated]
That's a possibility, although if that's the case, we should really ask them to remember things a little less... life-threatening, don't you think?
Re: [Dictated]
That we could, but then it makes me wonder if that would leave things up to the Castle's imagination, and I think that might be much, much worse don't you?
[Dictated]
Re: [Dictated]
Then I think we best be happy with the nightmares of those around us than the dreams of this place.
[ He made as soft sound that came with the flipping of a page. ]
It's sad that such a beautiful age on Earth was marred by those men of god.
[ And no, he did not put a capital G on it. ]

Re: [Dictated]
No, mine was mired in war too. I spent most of my life fighting, though I think the true reasons faded long before I ever took up the sword, or even my father.
I just felt that this place was... Far more malicious in its undertaking.
Re: [Dictated]
No, mine was not either. Though... the reason for it was not as those men used. In fact, I am not really sure anyone knows the true reasons we fought anymore. We simply did because the Castle's magic was that way and it was... what we did. I didn't question it til I was much older.
