A new year already, huh? Can be a good or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. On one hand, you're gonna get a little bit older, but on the other you get a pretty clean slate.  

It's kind of funny how you all on Earth celebrate the planet moving all the way around the sun. [coming from a creature whose homeworld celebrates Christmas by singing around a giant tree]

Haha, I do not think it is just the planet moving around the sun. It's the knowledge you made it through a year, through hardships and joyous moments. Like you said, we get a clean slate for the year coming up, a new start. It's celebrating what you did and what you could do, simply measured in the way the world moves.

That's something worth celebrating, isn't it?

That, and I am sure someone was just looking for a reason to hold a party.

But... I like the idea of it too, really. We have something a bit like this in my world, but... I like this idea better, this recognition of pulling through and looking forward to something brighter, that anything could happen.
