Hey, what's your favorite kind of snow?

[Sugar is taking a break from her snow making practice. It's been a year since she's arrived, and it doesn't feel like she's any closer to becoming a full fledged season fairy (though her magic flower has grown rather tall, strangely, despite her not finding any twinkles). So she's gone outside to practice.]

Also... um, say a plant starts growing without the things it needs. What would cause that?

[And with that, she starts playing her flute once more, waiting to see if anyone will reply.]

I didn't know there was anyone else here with ice powers!

[Another person! Sugar stops playing, the snowflake she was building falling slowly to the ground.]

Oh! Hello!

I don't! Just snow fairy magic.

Snow fairy magic? What's that?

[sugarwaffo]

It's what snow fairies use to change the weather, of course!

...You're saying you're a snow fairy?

[sugarwaffo]

Of course I'm a snow fairy! What did you think I was?

[Making snow + tiny flying girl with wings = ?? She doesn't see what's so hard about this.]

Some kind of ghost, I guess. Though you don't look much like of the ghosts from the Far Frozen.

[sugarwaffo]

A ghost? You mean like the ones in the castle? I don't look like those!

[schrodingersghost]

Nah, the ghosts in the castle don't look like the ones I know either. Back home there's this place called the Far Frozen where a whole bunch of ice-using ghosts live.

[sugarwaffo]

Really? Are you sure they're not really ice fairies?

[After all, season fairies were not usually visible to humans, so it was possible to mix them up.]

They're yeti, actually.

[sugarwaffo]

What's a yeti?

[schrodingersghost]

Um, abominable snowman?

Didn't know there was more than one kind. Just the real white stuff, and then the gross mud-slushie we get in New York.

Oh, there are so many kinds! There's light powdery snow which blows everywhere and fluffy snow that gathers into feathery clumps as it falls. Some snow is drier than other snow. Even the temperature changes the way the snow feels!

[Someone should probably stop her, or she'll talk snow for ages.]

... Yeah, thanks for the science lesson. It's still all the same stuff, though. What kind of place do you live where you actually get the fluffy storybook snow?

[sugarwaffo]

That depends on where the snow fairies are. Normally we move around a lot, you know.

[delincuente]

Ah. One of those kinds of worlds. I should have guessed.

[sugarwaffo]

[Sugar giggles.]

Not just any world, silly! The human world!

[delincuente]

... Wait - so you live in the human world? You don't have, like, your own little magic domain or anything? Even where I'm from, the fairies pretty much steer clear of the mortals.

[sugarwaffo]

Oh yes, we usually live in the fairy world. But season fairies do most of our work in the human world. That's the whole reason season fairies exist!

[delincuente]

Season fairies.

[Her unimpressed expression is clearly present in her voice.]

So do you guys, like, ring in spring or something? Like the magic ponies in that movie my brother liked?

[sugarwaffo]

[Sugar ignores that unimpressed voice.]

Not just spring. We also make summer, fall, and winter too. It's actually been this way for ages! Magic ponies couldn't do near as good of a job as we do.

[delincuente]

[She's not going to give up said unimpressed voice.]

I don't know, dude. The ponies were pretty effective.

[sugarwaffo]

Not as effective as season fairies are!

Can they make snow? Rain? Wind? Can they make the sun shine warm and bright?
