For the second time in my stay here, I was recently returned to an earlier period of my life- a time before I was known as ‘Galadriel.’ I apologize for the confusion I must have caused and I assure you that no deceit was intended.

[A pause]

I am aware, also, that I may have been...trying at times. I thank you all for your patience with me and I pray that I have not damaged our relations beyond repair with my pride and arrogance.

[Dairine Callahan]

I had heard that such things were possible, but it was strange to see it unfold.

[Nothing about being glad she's back to normal, though, she'd been... surprisingly all right as Artanis. Though he is glad he doesn't need to worry about hiding the answers to inopportune questions anymore.]

And it was far from the strangest such event I have witnessed. [There's a pause.] I should thank you, also for sparing me knowledge of my family's fates. It was kind of you.

Galadriel

You have been here longer than I.

[It's strange to hear her address such events as commonplace, for him.

There was no need to cause you that pain. It is different to lose a home than lose a family - I'd already told you of the deprivation of one.

Unless I am mistaken, you had little enough to do with it. And there was no reason to make you suffer that.

Ah, I'm quite relieved it was something so harmless, my dear. Though, I must ask if it isn't too intrusive, why the hullabaloo about a Sindarin name?

[He still has no idea what that is significant of.]

Quite simply, because I found it strange that so many seemed to mistake me for a Sinda.

I was not born into the society in which I now live. Sindarin, the language I now speak most often- and from which the name 'Galadriel' is derived- is not my native tongue. I could not have known, then, that I would one day be given a Sindarin name by the man I would later marry.

Try not to worry any longer, the things we do and say on a loss can hardly be held against us.

Many here have. It is a queer state of things when "I returned to a younger age" is a perfectly understandable reaction, but I suppose that I should be thankful that it is.

So it seems. But when many of us have so little in common otherwise, it makes a blessing in disguise.

[When Dairine sees that filter, she heart leaps into her throat. Galadriel was back? She wasn't the younger, ruder version anymore? Oh, she can only hope. Even if Artanis had eventually apologized herself, it still stunk that that situation had happened at all.

Instead of responding directly to the apology, Dairine rushes down to Galadriel's room and knocks on the door. Please, let it be true...]

[The apologetic look that Galadriel gives Dairine immediately upon answering the door should speak volumes.]

Dairine, my dear friend.

[Dairine practically flings herself onto Galadriel in her rush to hug her. She's back. She's normal again! Dairine couldn't be more grateful.]

[And Galadriel bends down to better return the embrace.] I was a brash, proud, arrogant little thing in my youth. I hope you can forgive me for it.

Yes. I'm sorry I doubted you. [As if she needs to apologize to her for being wrong. Dairine hugs her tighter.] You're already forgiven. Have you forgotten so soon?

[Weak attempt at humor aside, Dairine is quite serious. Forgiving Galadriel was much easier than forgiving Artanis had been, and she had (eventually) managed that.]
