Forgive my silence these past few days and my silence in the days to come. As a great many of you know, I was not untouched by recent events. Be reassured, I have recovered, for the most part. I need only time to regain composure and sense of myself.

[Dairine and Will]

[Don't think that she hasn't been paying attention to what's going on- both through the journals and in the form of what magics she can sense. She knows. And it bears commenting on, even if a brief message is all she really has the energy for.]

Well done, my friends. I am proud of you both.

[Later, you can find Galadriel out on the grounds of the castle, sitting under a tree, watching a little fawn sized unicorn frolicking nearby. The little critter is a curious little thing and, if you're interesting enough, she might even approach- cautiously, of course.]

[Waking up in a strange place was enough of a cause for panic, especially since Artanis has no memory of how she got there in the first place. But she has had to keep her head in difficult situations before; this was not so bad. A quick search of the room revealed a sword and swordbelt, made much to her liking, which she placed around her waist, and a journal.

The journal keeps her occupied for far longer than she had expected it to. There was a lot of information in it. A lot of answers- answers that made no sense, but answers nonetheless. After a thorough study of the text, she dictates into the book, trying not to feel foolish as she does so.]

I gather that my plight here is not unique and that the prisoners of this place are wont to use these books for communication. I will pose a question, then. Is it common to receive a journal with a name that is not one’s own? “Galadriel” is lovely name, to be certain, and I am sure the Lady who bears it is most pleased to be so named. But I am Artanis, daughter of Arafinwë and I will not be mistaken for another. [Except she probably will. That is totally Galadriel’s voice.]

Furthermore, I would speak with any who have ventured out into the wilds of this world.

You have my thanks.

[Action]

[And with that, she shuts the journal and goes out into the hallway, investigating the castle with the sword still at her hip.]

[You know what? It’s been a while since Galadriel mused idly into the journal. So have some elf thoughts.]

I trust that everyone has returned from the castles latest diversion more or less unharmed?

We should be grateful, I suppose, that things did not become worse than they were. Yet I cannot help but feel a little indignant at any being seeking to change me into something other than I am, even if it is only temporary. And it is all too easy to imagine such things as the beginning of something more. I wonder if we will not return one day to that town, only to find some who we had thought returned to their homes trapped there still, playing out their roles.

[And on that cheery note she will shut the journal.]

I have no intention of making a speech on the subject, but I would remind you all that any strange animal you come across on the castle grounds is quite likely to be a resident, temporarily transformed. As such, it is best, more oft than not, to leave them to their own devices unless they are in some danger.

I would particularly like to issue this reminder to the odd young man who recently spent a great deal of his time following a swan about the castle.

[The fact that she’s out and about today at all just goes to show how accustomed to the castle’s pranks she’s become. When she first arrived, she almost certainly would have spent the day hiding in her room. But no. She’s decided that she’s not going to let this get the better of her.

Granted, that doesn’t mean that she’s going to hang out in the most populated areas of the castle either.

It’s a nice day anyway, so she decides to spend most of her time in the gardens peoplewatching and enjoying the sun. Which wouldn’t be an unusual sight if it weren’t for the outfit. Jeans and a low cut tanktop are topped off by a brown wig. Really, if you didn’t know who she was, it wouldn’t be that bad. Good luck convincing her of that, though.]

may day!

[ The castle grounds holding the gardens have been transformed into a spring party sensation. Tall banners carrying the Tudor rose have been arranged in a representation of a border surrounding the celebration and events, but there are no real walls or barriers. It might make guarding difficult for the few in her employ, but that's hardly Queen Anne's problem. Nobody will be kept away unless they arrive with no mask (or representation of a mask), and although it might be hard to tell considering it's a masquerade, there will be some people (not many) from the city who have decided tentatively to accept Anne's invitation, helping fill in the crowd.

The theater stage has been covered in flowers of all sorts, as are the four wooden thrones arranged in the center. Each seat is taken, a tie for both King and Queen making for double the fun! Robb and Lucrezia have dressed as Orion and Diana, while Zelos and Galadriel have chosen Odysseus and Penelope (with a little help). The tops of their heads have been left bare, at least for the opening ceremony.

In front of them stands Anne in her costume, and she waits for the crowd to quiet before she speaks. ]

Good citizens of Cair Paradisa and City Royale, you come here today to seek pleasure and company, and I have never seen a finer or more unique looking peoples. I know you may find it difficult to smile in the wake of such recent tragedy. All here have known loss, but we have not let it conquer us, have we? God is with us. Brave souls here risked the unknown to discover the cause, while other remained to help rebuild. I am fiercely proud to see such dedication to one another, and I can only hope such unity continues to blossom! The work on the city will continue, as will the rehabilitation of the survivors most affected by calamity.

But today we spread our arms wide and heartily welcome summer. Today we make merry and keep our loves close. Today we celebrate an unprecedented event, two Queens and Kings!

[ She turns and walks over to the thrones, where the ladies hold crowns of roses in their laps and the men crowns of wooden antlers. She names each as she settles the crowns atop their heads. ]

Queen Galadriel. King Zelos. Queen Lucrezia. King Robb.

[ In playful deference, Anne will lift her skirts and curtsy to the four of them when they stand to announce that the festivities begin! ]

[By now Galadriel has realized the futility of attempts to remove the markings from her arms. Her hands remain the dark red of dried blood, splatter marks trailing up her forearm. That she could deal with. But she had spent far longer trying to remove the writing that encircled her right wrist like a bracelet. “Kinslayer.” There for all the world to see.

So be it. It was true and easy enough to learn of in her own world anyway. And if it shamed her still- well, it should. She wouldn’t hide herself in an attempt to run from it. So, instead, she’s taking advantage of the calming influence of Alexstrasza's tree, sitting by herself and alternately flipping through the journal or reading from one of a few books she has brought with her.

Eventually, she decides to speak to the castle at large through the journal.]

So many of us with blood on our hands. So many more with other marks of shame. [And, yes, she does mean “us.”] I will not tell you that you should not grieve for what you have done, nor will I offer forgiveness; it is not my place. Yet if you are to take something from this...event, perhaps it should be this: you are not beyond redemption or change. That this troubles you so proves that you are not past all hope. And that so many of us suffer similar afflictions proves that you are not alone.

[Friends, allies, and acquaintances]

Who among you intend to join the expedition?

[ooc: As described above, her hands are stained with blood and she has "Kinslayer" written in a circle around her right wrist. Feel free to run into her on the castle grounds under Alex's tree or respond to the journal.]

[Galadriel knew that he was gone the instant she awoke to an empty bed. He could have awakened early and risen before her. It was possible. But in her heart of hearts she knew. She couldn't feel him; no matter how she reached, she could not touch his mind with hers and that was answer enough.

It could not hurt to be certain, however. She slipped out of bed, threw a robe over her dressing gown, and made her way outside the room to check the nameplate. A blank spot under her own name stared back at her. That was it then.

She steps back into her room, seats herself on the couch, and opens her journal. The voice that comes through the pages is deceptively calm- cool, collected, detached.]

The Lord Celeborn of Lothlórien has been returned to his realm and to his people. On his behalf, I would thank all who showed him kindness and hospitality during his stay and request that you bring any unfinished business you have have had with him to my attention. My lord would not have his promises go unfulfilled.

[And then just in case you weren’t sure who she was, she signs her name in an elegant looping handwriting.]

-Galadriel, Lady of Lothlórien.

[And that was that. Another chapter closed. Another parting. She closes the journal and sits in silence for awhile, content to be alone with her thoughts.]

[Galadriel hates December. She really does. No matter how she tries, she can’t seem to avoid the castle’s shenanigans this time of year. And, as much as she would love to, she can’t exactly spend the entire month in her room, nor can she hang off Celeborn’s arm constantly, in the hopes that he’d be the only one she’d kiss.

So, in need of some fresh air, she wraps her cloak about her and heads to the stables- it may be cold, but a ride would do her good. And it seemed a good way to escape people.

There’s only one problem with this plan: she has to get from her room to the stables and there are plenty of nutcrackers decorating the castle along the way.]

[Today, in
a remote corner of the music room, there is a large, beautiful couch, a couple of very comfy chairs, a few random instruments (a large grand piano and a harp being the centerpiece), and a couple of small tables adorned with decorative trays of little finger foods.

Edgeworth didn't expect more than two people to show up... but, alas. It seemed as though there were more people interested in music than he had imagined. He had expected a small gathering for a titillating discussion of music, but it ended up with musicians and non-musicians alike tinkering with random instruments and/or scarfing away at the (limited) food.

So, he thought he'd try something. A sight-reading test! Why not gauge everyone's starting point? He wishes up scores of the well-known song, Thus Spake Zarathustra, handing it to everyone who happened to have an instrument in hand. With lack of a conductor, he approached the podium and tapped the baton, waving it in the air to signify "start".

If you are unfortunate enough to turn a page to the music room, you'll come across this wonderful rendition of auditory rape.]

[Action for the library]

[She really should have given up on finding anything useful in this library by now. But, as they say, hope springs eternal.

So once again, you may find Galadriel searching through the stacks. Books on Paradisa or the the Five mentioned above would be lovely, but she’s aware that she’s unlikely to find them. No, most of the books in her pile are… not the sort that you would expect the Lady of Light to be reading. Dark Magic. Specifically, the type of magic fueled by human souls and emotions. If your world has such magic, you may well notice a familiar text among the titles.

Know thy enemy and so forth.

Still, this sort of thing isn’t pleasant and she’s not altogether certain that she wants others reading her thoughts on the subject, so she’s fallen back into the old habit of taking notes in Quenya using the Tengwar script.

Of course, every so often she stops and sets the books aside. The subject matter is disturbing and she finds that she can’t delve too deeply for too long. Approach? Question her about her motives? Ask about the strange writing? All of the above?]
