Chapter Twenty-One

Well, how about that, looks like I've managed to make it an entire year here in Paradisa. Can't say my stay has been entirely pleasant, but what sort of life is always agreeable?

Though I am disappoint at the way it never takes any of our fine suggestions for wackiness. One of these days, though, someone will have to win the betting pool. Or the castle will fill our shoes with pudding, one.

Cheers and here's to all of us finally getting the hell out of here within the next year.

I like your way of thinking. I don't like the idea of wishing much myself, I was always taught you had to earn something to get it. It'd put my mind at ease if I could offer something back in return... Now the question is what. This place is very different than where I come from.

I suppose that makes sense, my own people prefer to barter, but we're rather insular compared to most races.

You and me both. I don't even like relying on others unless it's absolutely necessary, let alone make requests from a magical castle. It probably doesn't help that "magic" isn't really a word you here where I'm from. Not knowing exactly where something comes from is more than off-putting.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't some at least interested, though I'm not entirely sure what I could offer myself. I'm a mechanic, I hardly have a use without an engine haul. Though maybe I could get my hands on some materials and see what I can do.

We have some pretty strange things where I'm from, but everything can be explained with science. I'm not sure even the best of scientists could come up with an explanation for this one. I fear the worst-- that our wishes are being taken from someone else that needs it.

Average vehicles aren't exactly the type of mechanical work I'm used to, but I don't expect anyone to fly in a space ship anytime soon. Vehicles would be better than nothing.

I can only hope not, but maybe we can at least save some poor soul by reserving our wishes unless absolutely necessary. [ It's what she intends to do, at least. ]

We have those as well, but space travel is rather standard. I've lived on ships since I was a child, it's rather strange staying on solid land for a set amount of time.

I haven't set foot on Earth myself, but I've heard enough good things about it. The Commander of the ship I crew is from earth and I can say I've at least been to your moon on missions before. Not as fun as it sounds when she's driving though. [ That and the husks. No one likes husks. ]

Not all aliens are like that, but you will find at least a few that aren't big fans of humans.

It gets better, she's the first human spectre. I know that may not mean a lot for you, but to be brief it's an incredibly elite task force and is allowed to act as she sees fit.

Finally someone who seems to understand.

Maybe I could introduce you sometime-- She's here as well.
