[The castle courtyard today has got itself a new resident in its midst. Walking around in a poncho and a Stetson hat is a little brown pony, a rubber chicken resting in a tiny saddle on his back. The journal open nearby picks up an accent that sounds like someone who is trying to be Clint Eastwood and only doing a passing job.]

Well, Boneless Two, I don't reckon we've ever stepped hoof in this place before. Maybe we ended up in the Crystal Empire? Figured the castle would be more sparkly, though.

[It's then he notices the journal on the floor, merrily recording everything he's saying. With a happy gasp, he ditches not only his getup, but his ridiculous fake accent.]

OH WOW! It's a magical book. [He crouches near to it to get a closer look.] Look at it say everything I say! Petey Pony Picked a Peck of Picked Peppers!

Guess you're from some pony land without television huh? The telly is a box which shows moving pictures and you can chose from a lot of different channels. Oh and kids are what we humans are calling our young among other names.

Nope, we've got nothing like that in Equestria. Is it some sort of magic?

[Now he's interested.] You've got lots of names for them? What else? Tell me you sometimes call them Mike, you totally do right?

No it's technology, not magic. But for uneducated people it probably looks like magic.

No. [Frowns.] Mike is a name not a word we use for kids. The most common ones are kids or children.

Ohhhh so like trains and conveyor belts and stuff?

[He looks disappointed for a millisecond.] I guess that's pretty okay, too. I mean, it's no Mike, but it works.

Yeah, like that.

[Snorts.] Who even use that word when talking about children anyway.

There might be some creature out there who uses Mike for their children. You just never know.

[You'd think that would discourage him, but oh you'd be so wrong.]

So! How long have you been living here? What's your name? Is this your dog?

I have been here for about 5 months. I'm Aaron and yes that's my dog Clyde.

That's a really long time. [Says the pony who hasn't been in one place longer than a few days since he was a foal.]

It's not like I have had any say in that.

Everypony has a say in how long they stay in a place. You don't need a lot to pack up and move away.

When it comes to this place you have no choice in the matter. We're here against our will. If you want to get away from here you'll have to venture into the Dead Zone. But there are no cities other than Cair Paradisa here. Good luck in hunting strange monsters and live in a cave. I prefer to have electricity and heat.

Are you kidding me? That sounds perfect. I travel all over, back in Equestria.

Yes but I reckon there was cites to get to and roads to travel. In the Dead Zone that doesn't exist. I don't know how people were able to get out there and explore anything.

Not always. And exploring is easy. All you gotta know is how to build a fire, shelter and find some food. The last part's easy, most places have grass. And the rest just comes with experience.

I think I'm gonna have to check out this Dead Zone place.
