Spring has truly arrived at last, and it seems likely we shall have at least some little quiet time. It seems, therefore, as good a time as any to celebrate the changing of the seasons.
Those who wish to feast with us would be welcome to join in the celebration tonight. It will be outside the castle, near the trees.
[Private to Legolas
Have you still your wine, leaf, or need I find another way to procure more?]

Thranduil
I do and there is still a great deal left.
Legolas
[He's obviously smiling, even from his tone - formalities are formalities but really what objection would he have?]
Thranduil
[Legolas please.] We may need help though, I do not think one person could move it on their own.
Legolas
[His voice is almost laughing and very fond.]
If we ask for help moving it as the price of admission, I am relatively sure we may be able to find this help without a great deal of difficulty.
Thranduil
[He's trying so hard not to laugh himself.]
That seems a fair price to me.
Legolas
I hope that the others will also think so, then.
Thranduil
[Not entirely serious but gosh, why would anyone say no to helping move wine for a party?]
Legolas
[Well it is a very large barrel.]

The price for admission as things stand is to help to move a barrel of wine outside, for I suspect it shall take a few to do as much.

[He's just curious in general as well as wanting to make sure it would work, now.]

[Or, well, 'magic', but people called it that and he'd learned to roll with it.]
Very well, if you should have no problems moving an exceptionally large barrel, I should be grateful to you.

(Which includes learning histories, languages and how to defend himself.)
It shouldn't be a problem.

Shall I tell you where it is, then?
no subject
(He possesses the curiosity of a young pup, Thranduil.)
Please.

There are many Men who have wished to learn that which is unteachable; I fear I would not know how to tell you of that which is mine, and has always been mine, and is as much a part of me as my hands.
That which Men call magic is a great many things, some as dissimilar as fire and rain.
[In a neat hand under this he writes Legolas's room number, taking a moment to filter it juuuuuust in case. Probably there's no need but Thranduil tends to be overcautious rather than the reverse.]

[When was the last good party she attended? Not that she's much of one for parties.]

[ Winter is his sworn enemy! ]
I should plant some fire-flowers soon, from my own world. They bloom near the end of this season.
no subject
What are fire-flowers? Are they magical in nature, or is the name simply that, a name?
no subject
A name, only. They are said to originate from the phoenix who protected my people, long, long ago. They bloom in spring in red, yellows, and oranges, and at night their centers glow. When the wind moves them, it looks like a flickering flame at the center of each flower, hence their name.
no subject
Svitana?
One may say that they are magical in nature as well, then, although they do not truly burn.
[Honestly, anything beyond the ordinary seems a decent definition of magic to him. He's a little fuzzy on the specifics.]
no subject
Well, for mine, there was no need to be resistant to cold. It does not get cold enough for things like snow in my kingdom.
Ah, yes, Svitana - my dragon horse. He stays out in the stables.
And yes, I suppose that is true. As a child I always thought they were filled with magic. Maybe in some ways I still do.
