[Dictated - Open to Katniss or Anne] [Baby!Plot]

[The journal falls open, and a faint burn marks show on the edges of the page. There are sounds - sounds like crashing and slamming, and yes. Cursing. A great deal of cursing that suddenly became words.]

Come - back ... down here you damned bird! No, stop! Stop! Not the curtains! Don't set fire to the curtains! Sit! Stay! ARGH!

[Then there is the sound where she turns and yells across the room.] ANNE! Get out here and help me! You have got to help me! This thing is setting fire to everything!

[There was another crash, and Katniss sighs as a few more burn spots appear on the page.]

...I hate this castle...

Look in cupboard!

[Katniss ran back, wishing for another picture of water, before she let out a deep breath and tossed it at the bird. Who, predictably, squawked and flew higher.]

...Well, that worked as well as expected. I am going to open the window!

Then you endanger the city folk!

[ Not that she is willing to die a stupid death for them, but at the same time she knows it's reckless just to set it free. It needs to be tamed or killed, she sees no other option.

Anne heads for the cupboard Katniss has mentioned, but there's more than one, and when the young phoenix swoops down (possibly to greet her but she can only see it as an attack), Anne panics, not having enough time to look, and grabs the knives from a nearby drawer to slash at the air. It might still burn her hand, but not actually set her on fire. ]

Now, throw more water while it is low!

[Well, it doesn't work anyways because the damned thing ignores the window to swoop down on them again. Katniss ducks but doesn't panic, and she does wish up another bucket as Anne distracts it. She lifts - she tosses and ... the damned thing flits out of the way, and water douses all over Anne.]

[Katniss stares at her, then up at the bird.] ... all right. Now - now I know it's mocking us.

[ensorceler]

[ And maybe it's her own fault for having her mouth open, continuing to try to yell commands just as the water splashed her. She chokes at the folly, coughing and wiping her hair out of her face as she shoots a glare as smoldering as the bird above them. ]

I think that you missed.

[Katniss gave her a sheepish look because - well - she isn't always trying to be a little jerk.]

Not on purpose. It was a legitimate accident.

[ Anne's lips twitch, but she doesn't let a smile show. She can laugh about it when she's positive this thing is no longer such a threat, but the soaking has seemed to calm her down a minor amount. At the very least the creature is now staying high away from objects on the ground for fear of it's mothers, but Anne worries for the sake of the rafters, too.

At least stone can't burn, and these belongings aren't hers, but Anne keeps half an eye on the bird as she walks towards Katniss. Ignore that she's carrying knives, they're for the bird, really. ]

Let me see the note. There must be something written that we have missed. This is a grave mistake.

[Katniss is just going to eye the knives as she holds onto the bucket for protection, thanks. She sighs, looking around.] Okay ... hold on ... let's hope I didn't soak it or it didn't get burned by our 'baby'.

[She found it, a little singed but otherwise all right, and handed it over to Anne to parse through.]

[ Anne's look smolders at the suggestion that this thing is her babe, before looking back to the note and reading it over for what feels like the hundredth time, like she expects some new message to suddenly appear. Hey, who knows in this castle? ]

Repercussions... Ridiculous! There's far more just to let the thing go on living.

Listen, I don't make up the rules here. I just know we're being screwed by them.

[Katniss said wryly, before she eyed the ceiling again.] I've called for help, at any rate. We should hear something soon.
