[Dictated - Open to Katniss or Anne] [Baby!Plot]

[The journal falls open, and a faint burn marks show on the edges of the page. There are sounds - sounds like crashing and slamming, and yes. Cursing. A great deal of cursing that suddenly became words.]

Come - back ... down here you damned bird! No, stop! Stop! Not the curtains! Don't set fire to the curtains! Sit! Stay! ARGH!

[Then there is the sound where she turns and yells across the room.] ANNE! Get out here and help me! You have got to help me! This thing is setting fire to everything!

[There was another crash, and Katniss sighs as a few more burn spots appear on the page.]

...I hate this castle...

[ She just expects the mitts to catch fire, but Katniss is always so happy to act the warrior that Anne is happy to let her. She knows her own limits, so she stands back near Giovanni and Ashura, wishing with a fervor that her appearance was in a better state for the public.

Damned bird. ]

What is known to calm excited animals, then? Not the same that would calm humans.

Well, it rather depends on the animal, but usually a full belly is quite the appeaser. Being that he is young, I would suggest play, outside. You could always try the age-old adage of singing to it or playing music?

[ He shrugged his shoulders, but paused when his own child let out a sound of distress at the motion, and he cupped his side to keep him up, the little tail writhing as it reasserted its grip. ]

It is a creature, but a child too. Keep that in mind, I am sure you will do just fine.

[ Anne resists the urge to curl her lips at Katniss calling the monstrous thing 'baby', instead keeping her expression placid while she watches. Realizing it might look weak to cower and let Katniss handle this alone, she forces herself to move closer again, stepping up behind the younger woman with the sharpest of eyes on the bird. It's hard not to let her breathing pick up at being forced to get near fire, still not completely over the phobia, but stubborn enough not to let it control her in the public eye.

Singing, at least, is something that she can do well. She gives Katniss the chance to lure the bird down with her soft words. Clasping her hands together beneath her chin almost as if saying a prayer, Anne makes sure she herself doesn't freeze up from her own fear before trying to incant an old lullaby she would often sing to Elizabeth; it's a romantic tale in French, one that ends in tragedy. But that's just par for the course with those songs, isn't it? ]

[ He smiled from where he had been watching them, ready to step in in case things went sideways once more. For the moment, it seemed the girls were getting somewhere, and he wasn't one to interrupt progress.

He did shift to consider the room though, wanting to make sure no little stray bits of fire had been left untended. He was sure they would have noticed, but you could never be to careful, and turning his back gave them a little more privacy. His own child, Arias, raised himself up though and turned to keep watching with big curious eyes, hissing and burbling softly in curiosity. ]

Now now, Arias, do not be rude. They are bonding.
