Everyone Needs a Vacation [ dictated ]

Well, the past week was certainly... interesting to say the least. I am sure we can all agree on that.

Which I think means we could all do with a bit of cheering up. I recall a suggestion made by my friend Galadriel, and I decided that this Saturday I would host a small version of a festival in my world, called the Fire-Flower Festival. Two days is not enough to create something very extravagant, but I thought a little wishing in the gardens could make us a grand, small place to enjoy ourselves and not worry to much of anything for awhile.

Feel free to wear whatever you like, and the Festival itself shall be from sunset until, well, the last of us leaves, I suppose.

[ This is clearly the right and proper response to the undue amount of stress that Castle likes to put them through, right? ]

I'd say it hardly seems like a good time to have a party, but considering this place... There rarely actually is a good time for one.

It as good a time as any. And I, for one, am going to enjoy a little well deserved revelry.

And what exactly is this festival involving?

Well, I would like it to have some of the traditions of my people, if only a few. Mostly I think it shall be eating, dancing, drinking, and just having a merry time of it. But if I can I shall wish up some fire-flowers from my world, and perhaps we can have the tradition of wish-making for those who wish to participate. Not Castle wishes, mind, but.. hopes for the future. The festival has ever been about renewal and thanks in my world.

Seems like a reasonable plan. It's not easy to get things here exactly like they are at home. And I'm sure you'll have plenty of takers for something like that.

As for the wishes, even if you don't mean castle wishes, it could give the castle ideas for making things difficult.

You have a very good point there. Even thinking things is liable to give the castle ideas. It doesn't need us to spell them out.

Even then it would just put it's own twist on them, I think. How else would it keep surprising us?

... You have a point. The castle is nothing, if not creative in it's obnoxiousness.

Very true. Or twisted. I cannot decide which is the better term.

Twisted is probably a much better term in the case of this place actually. You make a good point.

It is a state I am not overly fond of. I prefer people have fun at such festivities.

And corpses ruin just about any festivities that aren't a funeral.

I do not particularly blame you. Though I think if we do not place some trust in each other, then who can we trust? Because the Castle we can certainly not.

I stopped trusting the castle after a month. Anyone who trust it longer is a damn fool.

I cannot really argue that logic, though I think it reinforces the fact we need to try and trust each other.

[So that's why he had an itchy ear all morning.]

Two days is more than enough time to create something extravagant. Trust me, I know these things. Lay the details on me, and I can make this something nopony would ever forget.

I do not think we need to bring every aspect of the festival here, but there are a few things I think would be nice. Do you wish to discuss this in person, perhaps in the gardens? It might be make it easier.

Excellent. You could come to my chambers if you like. It might be easier to show you the styles of my people since the room is already arranged that way.

[He now knows what 'Bacon' is, and it gives him reason to grimace, even if Ashura can't see it. Ugh, these people and their meat eating ways.]

Okey dokey, I'm on my way.

[And soon enough, there's a little pony stepping in, glancing around.]

Hellooo?

_{[ Bacon is not what Cheese thinks it is - not this time. Bacon happens
to be a mid-size dog that barks at the pony as he comes in, tail wagging
and bouncing around, wanting to play. Agni is a red and yellow Flareon, a
bit more subdued, but no less eager to see who the visitor was. ]}

Agni, Bacon, sit.

_{[ Ashura swept out from the back room in pale yellows and deep reds on
his silken robes, the two animals sitting obediently as Ashura came to
usher Cheese inside. ]}

I am glad you could make it, Cheese!

[Cheese at least knows what a dog is, reaching out a hoof to pet Bacon on the head, he's a little less certain what the Flareon is, but turns his head as Ashura enters the room.]

Yep, trekked the dangerous hallways all the way here.

Dangerous indeed. Such bravery should be rewarded. I have some cookies, if you would like some.

_{[ And indeed he did, but then, Ashura liked sweets so this was not
uncommon. He came around to sit on his long, low couch, folding his legs up
onto it, the table equally low to match the height. He took up a chocolate
chip cookie and began to nibble. ]}

OH SWEET, I LOVE COOKIES!!!

[He'll trot over to the (perfect pony height, in his mind) table to snarf down some cookies. Yeah, there are no table manners here.]

_{[ Ashura is a bit more indulgent of such things now than he might have
once been, though he does lean down and purposefully sweep crumbs into his
palm and onto the plate right where Cheese can see. Subtle hint. ]}

Now, where should I start on what we will need for this little celebration?

[This pony doesn't do subtle, he just assumes this is a weird human-shaped-thing ritual and carries on eating. He does pause when Ashura speaks though.]

Well, I need to know what it's all about. Like what feelings it's supposed to give everypony, then we work from there. Gotta lay the groundwork.

Well... a sense of hope, I think, is the main feeling. The festival is about remembering your past and then looking towards the future and the promises it holds.

As you can imagine, it is the most popular night for most couples to become engaged or be wed.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Kinda like Hearts and Hooves day, only with a wider scope, it's not all about the romance, but it plays a big part, right?

Haha, I do suppose it does. A good day for hope and love, yes, but a good day for forgiveness, and for wanting to better yourself. It is seen as the night my people were given a second chance and a new life, and we try and honor that.

... What is a fire-flower festival?

[ He can guess it needs darkness, but. ]

A tradition in my world, a celebration of renewal of the land and the people.

...... I must have asked poorly, because that doesn't clarify anything to me.

[ Its called fire-flower, and its about renewal...? ]

... or is it something that is hard to explain to outsiders, due to being so familiar?

Not.. hard, no. Though the festival is born out of legends in my world, legends our beginning and where the flowers came from and what they symbolize. A new hope, a new beginning, a light to guide us into the future.

.... There are flowers called fire flowers. And the festival is about them, and the symbolism.

[ He had thought Fire Flower was some random name. ]
