[It's 2am. Pitch is lounging by the pool, in the dark. He's chosen the middle of the night for this because he figures most of the Castle will be asleep and unlikely to bug him (which, of course, means people definitely should come bug him).

And then he decides to make a journal entry. Call it an experiment, to see who else is awake.]

Quiet, isn't it.

[His tone is ominous. He doesn't actually know whether or not this is a "calm before the storm" situation, but he definitely wants everyone else to think it might be.]

I like to think the castle is a she. It would explain the monthly mood swings.

Ships tend to go somewhere.

Already happened. There were three ships, actually. One was a pirate ship.

...Oh and then there was the dinosaur island cruise ship. The first time we went there.

How many times did you go to dinosaur island?

Twice, the last time was fairly recently, the first quite a few years back.

Hmmmm.

I never found the dinosaurs that interesting, myself.

They didn't exist, in my world. Didn't quite appreciate the existential crisis seeing them for the first time gave me.

Were they just myth in your world?

Worse, a joke. We hid the hoaxed bones for humans to find, so they'd try to figure out where they came from.

Who's "we"? You and the other demons?

And the angels. It was a joint effort.

Do demons and angels usually work together?

[onlyanapple]

No. It's usually heavily frowned upon. I have an Arrangement with one, though.

What sort of arrangement does a demon make with an angel?

[onlyanapple]

The kind where we make sure we keep everything in balance. So neither side actually wins, but our superiors can't say we're shirking our duties, either.

And I suppose the other demons and angels aren't particularly fond of the idea of balance.

Not even marginally. Both sides border on the psychopathic.

I've never met an angel before. Actually, I don't even know if the exist where I come from.

If you've met demons, there'll be angels. There are always two sides in the cosmic chess game. Could be they aren't even called angels, but there will always be light and dark, or there would be nothing but chaos.
