011 [ action | dictated ]

[bonniewitch]

[Bonnie has spent most of her morning in the castle kitchen baking cupcakes. It was a new hobby of hers and she was enjoying it a lot. She was currently waiting on her fifth batch to be cooked, the other batches all neatly set out and beautifully decorated. Before this, Bonnie would never have considered baking to be relaxing in the slightest and yet she felt at peace when she was in the kitchen.

There were around fifty cupcakes in total and the final batch would take it up to about sixty. Much too many for Bonnie to eat. After switching off the oven and taking out the last batch to cool, she cleaned her hands and opened her journal to announce:]

Free cupcakes! Come to the kitchen if you want one!

That's pretty nice of you, Bonnie. That'll be two favours I owe you.

[bonniewitch]

Like I said, it isn't really any trouble. You're really adamant about owing me back, aren't you?

[jetset]

Hah, I guess so. What can I say; when someone does me a good turn, I wanna pay it back.

[bonniewitch]

Hey, I'm not gonna stop you if you want to do it. I think it's nice that you do something like that for others.

[jetset]

You'll see, it's nice having me owe you one. One of these days the castle'll be overrun by hogmonkeys, and I can show you the trick to subduing them.

[bonniewitch]

Hog-monkey? [She blinks, trying to make sense of that.] Is that like a monkey with pig features? Because we definitely don't have anything like that back home.

[jetset]

No, it's a... actually, no, it'll be easier like this.

[ he takes out his journal and starts a simple sketch of one of these. ]

I'm realising that the animals in my world don't really exist in any of the others.

[bonniewitch]

[Bonnie watches him as he begins to draw in his journal, peering over his shoulder.]

Huh. That's kind of freaky looking. Are they really dangerous?

[jetset]

[ he shrugs, and angles it so she can see better. ]

They're not easy to manage, and in packs they can cause a lot of damage, but otherwise... nah. They look worse than they actually are.

[bonniewitch]

[she looks a little closer.]

Okay. Then I hope a whole pack don't come to the castle. And if they do, we have you here to handle them. That's a good thing.

[jetset]

Exactly. [ teasingly. ] See? Knowing me is already turning out to be advantageous.

[bonniewitch]

[Bonnie laughs.] Yeah, I'm not gonna disagree with that.

[jetset]

[ he closes his journal, smiling. ]

Thanks again for the cupcakes.

[bonniewitch]

Sure. I'm glad you like them. I'd probably bake another batch some other time.

[jetset]

You're really into this stuff, huh?

[bonniewitch]

Not the only thing. [she looks over at a cupcake, holds her hand up and utters a few words. a moment later and the cupcake begins to float towards them.]

[ his eyes move from the cupcake to her. ]

How are you doing that?

[bonniewitch]

Magic. [Bonnie replies, letting the cupcake fall down slowly until it's on the plate again.] I'm a witch.

[jetset]

[ he's still a little bit tense, because whoa. he raises an eyebrow. ]

A witch? You don't look like a witch.

[bonniewitch]

Yeah, I know. I don't look like everyone's typical idea of a witch. Warts, hooked nose, absolutely hideous...

But I'm the good kind. I wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone.

[jetset]

[ okay, the hideous bit makes him chuckle just a little, because it is a little what he was thinking of, and no, she certainly isn't. ]

It's fine, you don't have to explain. I'm not worried. Just... surprised.

[bonniewitch]

So, you're okay with it? [bonnie asks tentatively because she wasn't sure how people felt about what she was.] I wasn't sure how'd you react but I wanted to be honest.

[jetset]

[ a pause. ]

To be honest, you're the first witch I've met. I don't have a problem with it, but it's not like I know much about it.

[bonniewitch]

Well, I can tell you what you need to know. I'll be upfront about it too. No fibs.
