Hello. I was wondering if you've had any luck in pursuing your line of work during your stay in Paradisa.

This place is the slap to the face for pretty much every skeptic, isn't it?

The impossible happens at every turn, who's about to pinpoint when it's all about to make any sense.

Not that I'm having trouble adjusting, it's just... [There's a pause, and perhaps a sigh, maybe a chuckle under her breath.] Hard to believe that there are a distinct lack of answers.

Four months, huh? I'm guessing people tend to take matters into their own hands?

It's either that, or there's just been an overwhelming amount of peace.



...given that the majority of people here are human beings, I'm assuming it's not peace.

Yeah, I can't imagine things are that easy, even here. [A beat.] Especially here.

So, which side are you on?

[takethat]

I'm a defense attorney.

[That statement is just oozing with pride.]

[kalinda]

Good to know. [She appreciates that pride. It will remind her of her best friend. Or what used to be her best friend, in any case.]

I admire the side of the defense, and not because that's the side I work.

[takethat]

[You admire the defense? You have a friend.]

One of my best friends is a prosecutor; me, I really love what I do and think I'm making a difference in the world by doing it.

[kalinda]

[And how! C:]

You're just like a friend of mine back home. [A beat.] Idealistic, but your heart's definitely in the right place.

[takethat]

I've gotten pretty far on being idealistic!





How long have you been here?

[kalinda]

It seems to be a common theme with you idealistic types. I'm not sure how you pull it off. [There's a vague taste of humor in that line. Can you detect it?]

I've been here for about a month now.

[takethat]

[He's picking up on that undertone, but he's not addressing it--not now, anyway.]

...oh, yeah? I've been here about... well, going on four months, myself.

[kalinda]

[She's glad to move away from it!]

Really. How do you cope with not being able to work?

[takethat]

It's not easy, that's for sure. I would love to be doing my job right now, but I just try to spend time practicing my non-work related hobbies while I have the chance.

[kalinda]

It's funny, how that happens. When we're surrounded by work, we dream to escape to a place like this. Now that it's happened...

[He laughs, only just a little bitterly, perhaps.]

Yeah, I guess I never thought of it like that.
