Second Drink

[Haymitch has finally decided that maybe, maybe, Peeta isn't crazy and they really are living in a magical castle with people from other worlds. Maybe. Of course, that doesn't mean he's not on his guard. Even if this is what people say, it doesn't mean Snow or any of his Capitol stooges couldn't show up and ruin everything. Given what Finnick told him about the future...well. Better to be safe than sorry.

And Haymitch was prepared to keep those kids safe rather than sorry at any cost.

And so, he's sitting in the Lux, occasionally glancing at the drink of whiskey he can't have until someone hands it to him, flicking through his journal pages. Eventually, he deigns to talk]

Okay. So let's say I'm more willing to buy this magical castle idea. I want to know more about it. What makes it tick. Some of you have been here for years, apparently, you must have learned something in all that time.

I'm sitting in the Lux, if you'd like to play sharetime. We can have a drink, learn a thing or two. It'll be fun.

[Attempting to make an effort to socialize on her own without BB's prodding, Naomi ventures into the Lux, looking extremely out of place between her bulk and her expression of uncertainty. She settles carefully onto a barstool and starts to look over the drink menu like she's studying for a very important exam.]

[About 15 minutes later an Irishman walks into a bar and starts a bad joke]

[Right. So Dairine still thinks this guy's a jerk. But he did say he was trying to keep Katniss alive, so maybe she should give him a second chance?

Well, here goes nothing.]

[Sounds like a recent arrival, alright. Deferring this to the veterans of the castle gives it away.

She dictates back over the journal, her voice monotone and firm as always.]

Daniel's just sitting nearby, face practically buried in a book he borrowed stole from the library. The title is vague and in Latin. He can scratch Latin off his list of things that could be his 'loss'. ]

[Jo... is pretty sure she hasn't seen the bar this packed in a long time. She wonders what's going on. Frowning, she wipes down a booth and heads back over to the guy who's chatting on the journal.]

Can I get you anything else?

[he's stalking this entry. As much as he'd love to help you, he has the feeling going within 20 feet of you will just cause him to pass out. So for now, stalking. ]

[Gale hears this, and decides that maybe, if Haymitch is going to keep up his Mentor routine, he should keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't break Katniss too badly (the jackass). it doesn't take him long to find the bar, since Jo had already told him about it during that ... strange clean-up day they'd all had. he slides onto a stool a few down from Haymitch and just ... spends a moment staring at the sheer breadth of alcohol available]

... I didn't know they could make it come in bright green like that.
