[Spike is chilling in the library, as usual, but this time, he is a little...less settled than usual. Molotov brought up a point, and though he wondered it from time to time, he never really...considered asking until now. Maybe that it's because it's so close to him having been here a year now that he's finally decided it's something to be faced. After all, everypony should be allowed to wonder where they came from, right? He heaves a heavy sigh, his claw tracing faint lines on the journal page]

What does family mean to everypony- I mean, everyone here?

[Of course, he already KNOWS the ponies are his family. He reached that conclusion a while ago, living in this weird little world. He dithers over this next question. He almost doesn't want to ask it. As if he'd appear ungrateful for everything she's ever done for him. And she really has done everything for him. Still. It can't hurt to ask, right? Right?]

So nopony at all knows how I ended up in Equestria? I mean...dragons almost never go there.

Well... I mean, I'm sure that the Princess - that is, Princess Celestia - would know. But she's not here...

I guess if she ever comes back, we could ask her...

[Then, because he realises this is probably coming off badly, he's just gonna...cling to her leg]

Not that I'm ungrateful or anything. You're the best family anypony could ever wish for. And nothing would ever change that.

There's nothing wrong with questioning who you are or where you came from, Spike. [ Gonna nuzzle his head a bit. ] That doesn't make you ungrateful.

I'm not sure. But as far as I know, you're the only dragon that's been raised with ponies. [ That's... kind of an answer? Sorry Spike, she really doesn't know. :( ]

Sometimes, being a one of a kind can be really difficult.

I know it can be, Spike. But you know I'll always be here for you.

And all of our friends will be, too. [ And they will always support him. And such. Blah blah life lesson dear princess etc. ]

And I'll always be here for you. Because someone needs to be around when you freak out over losing a book. Or a quill.

Or missing an appointment.
