Alright. I know there's been talk about a book club or whatever for a while. But, like a lotta things here, it seems like a lot of "we should" and "we'll do" and not enough "let's DO this."

So. This is me. Doing this.

I found a book in the library that looks pretty cool and if anyone else wants to read it, too, just let me know and I'll have the ghosts bring you a copy. It's called Ego and Enmity and the Undead. So, what do you think? Any takers?

It's only natural for the young to take over from the old. They should have recognized that.

They won't give up shit til they die or someone takes it from them by force. Cresswood ran that school like a fucking dictatorship.

Most schools are dictatorships, my dear, though ostensibly benevolent ones. In any case, power is sweet and rarely easy to give up. True, this Cresswood should have been expecting it, to a degree, but that doesn't make it easy.

She even went so far as to kick kids out because they weren't meeting her standards... including me.

[The Master arches an eyebrow, feeling more than a bit of contempt for the school's administration.]

It's the teacher's job to make sure standards are being met. Students are exactly that; they're supposed to make errors. A good teacher uses those errors to further lessons.

I think she only cared about image. She wanted the school to look the best and be the smartest, all that bullshit. A guy I knew, Maz, was expelled for a fucking dress code violation in the first week.

Ah. That makes sense, then. She has used up her own potential and is envious of yours, so she is spiteful.

[eat_me_beat_me]

[She laughs] She's just a dried up old bitch. I'm so glad she's out of the school... even if I'm not going there anymore.

[traken_master]

I'm sure you are. There are better places for such personalities than in academia.

[eat_me_beat_me]

Yeah. Unfortunately I'll have to wait to find out where. [She pauses] I'm in jail back home.

[traken_master]

[The Master looks surprised.]

That is extreme. You helped the young man with his program on Earth, then?

[eat_me_beat_me]

Only the last one. They brought in the FCC to triangulate where the broadcast was coming from. So we made it mobile. I drove and he talked.

[traken_master]

[The Master laughs, approving.]

That's very clever, my dear. I'm sorry it ended badly for you.

Thanks. It was worth it, though. If I had a choice I wouldn't do anything differently.
