xii λ the apple
[He wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but it certainly wasn't this.
At first there's just a weird feeling in him, something that makes it feel like his insides are vibrating, reverberating from the Apple in his hand.
Then it bursts, like an explosion, with a gold light tearing across the room in all directions. It vanishes into the walls, and Ezio can't see where it goes, but he's startled enough to drop the Apple. He feels winded.
Elsewhere in the castle, humans may have just felt like something tried to invade their head, and unless the castle chose to protect them from it, it'll hurt like a blast to the head.
And then it's gone.
What the hell was that?]
[Mini event post here! And an video example of what this looks like! Again, it won't effect non-humans, and any psychics who probe "back" at it will know whatever did it isn't organic.]

[ He breaks off, staring at a wall as if he might find the answer on it. His mind is running, trying to find a rational explanation, everything can be explained, he just needs to find it. ]

See if anyone else was affected? All right.

[ You're dismissed, Allen. He needs more information. He may need to rely on others. Perception is colored. Humans have imperfect recall. Tainted, incomplete data. Almost useless. ]

[He'll get up and get going. He's worried about House, but he seems to be mostly okay right now and he just needs to check on the other clinic staff? Should be quick]

Several other people were affected, though not everyone. Same symptoms.

Humans. All humans. Why all humans?
no subject
It could be some sort of spell meant to target only humans.

Why are you unaffected?
[ You were better off when he was ignoring you. ]

[He frowns and crosses his arms a moment, leaning against a door as he thinks. Something trying to get into your head, that sounds very familiar, something he's experienced before- ] - Oh!
Mind control!

[ He has heard the word 'telepathy' thrown around a little too much in the past few minutes. He's waiting to see if Allen's response ties into it. ]

When a mind control spell happens to someone, a very common thing to have is the feeling that something, or someone is trying to get into your head- or is in your head if they're successful. As though something is trying to...hijack your brain and use it themselves.
[Master has done it enough time that he is VERY familiar with the feeling okay. He reaches under his shirt and pulls out his necklace- a simple gold chain with a purple glowing gemstone]
A few years ago I had a bad incident with a mind controller, so I had someone make a charm against such spells. That's probably why I wasn't affected, if I'm right.

That still doesn't explain why it's only humans being affected.

Maybe something about the spell. Every spell has rules and limitations. It's not as all powerful as people from non-magical worlds seem to think it is.

[ Of course, there is going to be a limit. Just as there will be a backlash. It still doesn't answer his questions. He turns back to the wall. ]
Put up a sign at the door. Those with a headache can wish up a bottle of Tylenol and read the directions on it. They don't need to see a doctor no matter how much they cry.

[He sighs and resists the urge to roll his eyes - man he does this a lot these days]
John already had me wish up a bunch of aspirin. I think the other doctors will feel fine letting you think.
no subject
[ Idiot. ]
no subject
I'll go fix that then.
[Turning to leave; maybe he can leave this guy to think while helping the other doctors for the rest of the night. That'd be awesome.]
