[Not long after sunrise, the ship docks in a large harbor on the edge of a great city.

Welcome to Castelia City!



Tall buildings tower over the landscape, and people crowd the streets as they make their way toward their destination. There are seldom any cars in the crowded streets, as many prefer to travel by bike or by foot, or public transit.

It seems the ship has arrived just as the city is waking up to start its day. With a city this big, one might need the whole day just to explore it.

The ship's crew thanks everyone for sailing with them, as it has been their pleasure. They certainly hope their sea-faring friends will enjoy themselves in the city.

So these things they do are attacks? Chihanchka keeps making snow, but I did not know that is what it was.

[Molotov's Cubchoo takes this opportunity to use Powder Snow, though it's not effective at all, and just makes the immediate area a bit cooler.]

It can continue to learn new attacks as it advances into higher levels.

What do you mean, "levels"?

Think of the "levels" as "stages." For example, your pokemon may learn several abilities through stages one to five. It can also evolve by hitting a certain level or a special circumstance.

Da, but how do you raise their level? Is it like aging, do you just... let them get older?

Training. Get them involved in battles.

Why would anyone make them battle? Is this a world of animal cruelty?

That is their whole purpose, Molotov. You certainly are not required to battle.

Their purpose? Wouldn't they be hurt? That is awful.

I am just reiterating what I have read. Humans and pokemon seem to exist side by side, and some of them are caught and used for battle.

Your drippy-nosed bear can stay cute and produce all the snow he wants without having a confrontation.

[Cubchoo uses Powder Snow again, as a way to distract them from glaring. It's super effective! Not really, but he does target Cross a little better this time.]

Good boy.

[ It's super effective! Cross (and his Ralts under his coat) are now covered in a light dusting of snow. He shakes it off of his head before looking at it inquisitively. ]

I am sure if you level it up, it can eventually attack with something similar to a blizzard.

But he will have to be hurt for that.

You can train him without having him participate in battles.

How do I find out what his next "form" is? I assume someone must know.

There is some informational database with every pokemon that exists. I am sure if you look him up, it will tell you what his next "form" is.
