[Not long after sunrise, the ship docks in a large harbor on the edge of a great city.

Welcome to Castelia City!



Tall buildings tower over the landscape, and people crowd the streets as they make their way toward their destination. There are seldom any cars in the crowded streets, as many prefer to travel by bike or by foot, or public transit.

It seems the ship has arrived just as the city is waking up to start its day. With a city this big, one might need the whole day just to explore it.

The ship's crew thanks everyone for sailing with them, as it has been their pleasure. They certainly hope their sea-faring friends will enjoy themselves in the city.

Aye, 'tis. Sorry if it was botherin' ya.

Not at all. I think Bashful likes his new friend.

Bashful? Izzat what y'call yers?

[He can't help but smile at that. See. This is the kind of person who should have one of these teddy bears. Not him.]

It's a naming tradition I started back in my home world. Besides, it suits his personality.

'snot a bad name, at all, dear. [His smile widens] I'm Connor, by th'way.

Nice to meet you, sir. My name is Triela.

[He waves a hand, laughing] Ah don't need t'call me 'sir.' That's m'father. Connor'd do me jus' fine.

[triela]

Connor it is, then. I'm guessing you're from Ireland or somewhere like it?

[shepherdsveritas]

Aye. That's where we come from originally. Though we lived in Boston for a while.

[triela]

I've never been to America, but I've heard about it. And we might get to go there while we're here in Paradisa.

[shepherdsveritas]

It's nice fer th'most part. [He pauses] What, d'ya mean durin' one've them changes? I heard 'bout th'time it turned into Paris.

[triela]

It did. That's when I returned to Paradisa, actually.

[shepherdsveritas]

Returned? Y've been 'ere b'fore?

[triela]

I was here a long time ago, then left. But I came back again this past December.

[shepherdsveritas]

An' you remember?

[triela]

I do. A lot of us are remembering Paradisa, for some reason.

[shepherdsveritas]

No idea why? Seems weird th'castle started doin' that all've a sudden.

[triela]

It is. For years people have come and gone with no memories, but now suddenly we have them. I don't know what could've changed.

[shepherdsveritas]

[he scoffs] somethin' changin's not usually a good thing.

[triela]

Especially in this place. Still, I'm glad to have my memories.

[shepherdsveritas]

Aye. I'm sure. I'm missin' some've my own so I've got some idea's 'bout that.

[triela]

Your loss is a memory? I'm sorry to hear that. I lost memories of my brother the first time I was here. It was horrible.

[shepherdsveritas]

Aye. [He looks down, sighing softly] I forgot m'mother.

[triela]

I don't remember my mother, either.

[shepherdsveritas]

Y'don't? It's so weird, innit? Like... I remember that we've got one, but I can't remember anythin' 'bout 'er.
