I do not want you on my bedside table eith- put that down! Howie, that is not edible. Brainy Smurf is... [Meeeeeowwwwwhisssss and a gasp from Brennan. Preserving Brainy Smurf (however much she will not admit how much the small toy's presence means to her) is worth a couple of scratches.

By now she's noticed the journal on the floor and has bent down to pick it up. There are a few seconds of silence.]

[To the cat:] I don't know why you've started acting like this. You were... surprisingly agreeable to co-habitat with until recently. [When Brennan started spending more and more time in the Peace Patrol laboratory again.]

As reluctant as I am to ask for it, I know there are a number of pet owners here in the Castle. I... admit, I could use... some assistance at the moment.

A friend of mine believed that I needed to be convinced of the existence of blue cats. He was a gift. For Christmas.

I think I would prefer to bring Howie to your room. If I can get him into his carrier.

I'd love to see your blue cat! I'm a bit worried though, I haven't asked Lancelot if he has any allergies to pets so is it alright if I bring a shirt to change into?

[She can really talk loudly and fast, can't she?]

That is not something I have very much control over. I did not ask to be brought back here to the castle.

[It takes about fifteen minutes (and a new scratch on her forearm) for Brennan and Howie to finally make it to Hermione's room.

She knocks on the door.]

Ms. Granger?

[Hermione answers with a smile. Crookshanks is at her heels, investigating this newcomer. It's lucky he's half-Kneazle, because as a cat he's really ugly]

Dr. Brennan! This is Crookshanks.

I... guess I do not see any harm in that. My quarters are on the sixth floor.

[She glances down at the cat and then lifts the carrier case enough so Hermione can see better inside.

Howie meows, annoyed.]

This is Howie. We had something of a disagreement. Again.

Oh. Well, let's see how he takes to Crookshanks.

[she steps aside to allow Brennan inside. Her room weirdly looks like the inside of a tent]

[As she looks around the room (tent?), Brennan bends down to open the latch on the carrier. Howie jumps out immediately and stretches.]

This is an... interesting arrangement you have.

My friends and I spent a lot of time in a place just like this. Having it here makes it feel like my friends are close.

But they're not.

Well, no. Not literally. But I have their pictures and my memories of them. And I do have some things of theirs in my bag.
