[ To those who frequent the church, there's a little blond girl sitting at one of the pews, flipping through her journal. She speaks up after a few minutes of reading. ]

So I was gone, and then I was selling Magikarp, and now I'm back here. What a pointless endeavor. If you were going to kick me out, Paradisa, why did you bring me back?

[ There's a sigh as she continues. ] It's been about seven or eight years for me. I'm not sure how long I've been gone in Paradisa's timeframe, but it doesn't look like much has changed. [ A small pause. ] Except for my room. I'm fairly certain I was in a different tower. What's the point in giving me a different room? Couldn't I just get my old one back?

Magic castles... no sense of common decency.



[ There's another pause. Longer, this time. Then, added in as an afterthought- ]

Oh, and to those who purchased a Magikarp from me?

I'm not apologizing. You all deserved exactly what you got. Stop being so gullible.

I don't know, not like you can't switch rooms on your own. At least I checked before wandering in anywhere I shouldn't have.

I went home for seven or eight years, too.

What's another seven to eight years on top of six hundred? It could send me back for at least a few more decades, at least.

For a short lived species like my own, seven to eight years would be appreciated. Not so much for more long lived species like yours I imagine. [Shrugs.]

[There's a man only a pew back. He's an older gent, with thick grey hair and a grizzled sense about him. His head has been bowed the entire time she's been here.

[Finally, he raises his head, looks up into the visage of the statue of Saint Mary, and crosses himself.]

[In a hushed tone, he asks,]

What's a Magikarp?

[midget]

[ She looks over her shoulder. She looks... um. Well, she's just kind of flatly staring at him.

Either he's new or paid absolutely no attention during the last week or so. ]


It's a carp. That's magic.

[ Simplest explanation, go! ]

[sixguns]

[He's been indisposed for the last two weeks, in fact.]

A fish? Well, bugger me.

Anythin' a bit like a lizard what's on fire?

[midget]

That would be a charmander.

[ A small pause. ]

Or it's evolutions.



[ Really, it's sad that she still remembers all of this. Is she doomed to forever be a pokémon encyclopedia...? ]
