Um... I'm sorry I haven't really been around lately. I don't know if any of you know Peeta or heard him tell people what's happening but I didn't want you to worry.

[She takes a breath] In my world there's something called The Hunger Games. Every year two kids, a boy and a girl, are picked from each District to go to an arena and fight. [She pauses] There's only one winner... another girl from the Games I was in got here, Clove. She's what we call a Career. They train for years for the Games and volunteer to go.

I don't want her to know I'm here... at least, not yet. I've been staying with friends. I miss all of you, though. How have you been?

[Though she's not about to announce her presence she still misses talking to people. She hesitates a moment before picking up a pencil and writing a question]

What's your favorite flower?

I'll take you down to the City Royale. The walk is quite peaceful, about ten minutes.

Okay! Are there a lot of places to go in the city?

There's quite a few places, aye. Some nice cafés, a church that my friends are renovating, an animal sancturary.

Loads of places.

A church? Wait, do you mean the one Murphy lives in? [She cocks her head at him]

Aye. That's it. You know them?

I met Murphy when I met you... He told me he has a brother here but I haven't met him.

Oh! Aye, of course. It slipped my mind.

Aye, his brother's called Connor. You might meet him one of these days [lolno]

I'm glad he has family here. It's nice to have someone here you know and who cares about you.

[A slightly sad smile crosses Carson's face for the briefest of moments.]

Aye, I suppose it is. I wouldn't wish what the castle can do to people on anyone, though.
