Look, Paradisa. I'll level with you. If you clue me in as to what my loss is this time around, I'll let you do something ridiculous like, oh I don't know, turn me into a cat. Or make it so I can only speak pig latin. It's gotta be better than constantly wondering what piece is missing this time.

[a huff] At least you knew what not to take.

[And with that, he shuts his journal and decides it's time to take a stroll outside.]

[Not too long after, night owls might catch a glimpse of something large and canine darting off into the distance, or they might hear the long howling of a lone wolf.

It's been a while since he's had a good run, and what better way to rid himself of frustrations than to go wild for a little while? He seems to be enjoying himself as he darts around toward a thick of trees.

He's not too worried about running into anyone at this hour, but one should never underestimate the curiosity of fellow residents.]

(ooc: feel free to run into the wolfboy wherever he may be as he runs around. just state where!)

out in the woods, slightly toward the city

[ Sakura and Scooter are running through the woods, playing a game of chase and catch and go again with each other as she burns off some of the energy eating both of them alive. She's slow, mindful of Scooter's own aptitude for speed. He'll never be a nin-canine, for all he belonged to a shinobi. He wasn't quite back at peak form, but he was young enough she anticipated he'd be fine.

Stopping along the way, she waited for his white form to come barreling up the pathway, paws thudding and tongue lolling out. She smiled, lips closed, as he brushed right by her, huffing as he passed and checking over his shoulder to make sure she wasn't truly staying put.

She waited a moment, letting him take lead again, before setting off at a run. He'd be faster than her without augmentation, and for now she let that guide their pace. When he disappeared into the forest, a flash of white she couldn't see if she could still hear, then she changed speeds. Normal human speed picked up to the blur of movement that was shinobi movement, pushing off the ground and using trees as springboards to launch ahead of her retriever-pyrenese as he raced down the deer trail.

She touched down again by Scooter's side, pacing with him until they entered into a partial clearing. Then she bent and shouldered into him, taking the both of them into a tumble that left him winded and squirming, her laughing in that hiccuping silence before he deigned to shake off and come around, licking at her face.

Sakura had missed her big, stupid mutt. She wrapped an arm around his ruff, pulling him close to rest her head against his. He was panting out of exertion, ears perking up as he strained to listen to the forest around them. Scooter was more paranoid than ever that something was going to take her away from him. Third time might be the never sees her again charm. ]

[ Sakura left her arm around Scooter, closing her eyes and breathing in the night air. Her dog took his job seriously, panting slowing as he acclimatized to the change in movement. He was on watch, ears perking forward, flicking opposite directions to track noises outside Sakura's range of hearing as they occurred in the forest.

He didn't like them being out in the open. Sakura knew better, knew that danger was a game Paradisa invented, but she couldn't quite make herself care. She'd run across Deathwing for the first time in these woods, a massive, preposterous dragon, Death incarnate, and refused to back down. Had healed him, even.

Her eyes opened, following Scooter's attention as he tensed, watching something she couldn't make out, and she acknowledged that she didn't make the wisest decisions. Not that it was news.

But it felt simpler out here, away from the city, away from the castle, to try and understand the conglomeration of good and bad decisions across three different lives vying for dominance in her mind.

She rose to her feet quietly, watching the shadows with Scooter at her side. She could feel him want to growl, felt it starting in his chest, and nudged him with her knee.

Quiet. If it came down to a scuffle, she'd be protecting him. Sakura knew she'd come back.

Scooter wouldn't.

Taking a half step in front of her dog, protective, she waited to see if whatever's got Scooter tense will pass without comment. ]

[ Sakura tenses when she sees what's looking out at her, eyes scanning for any other signs of movement. Wolf? Ridiculously large wolf. Alone? Wolves were pack animals. Yet Scooter's attention, which has been seeking out other sounds, ends up only focused on the one wolf.

The timid, large one peering around a tree.

She feels Scooter at her thigh, shifts enough to let her hand wind into his ruff and hold him steady while she watches their watcher. She waits, though with no further move on the wolf's part, her shoulders will relax. Scooter starts to growl, but the tightening of her fingers keeps him quiet.

Then she lets go, trusting her dog to behave and watch her for appropriate signals. Sakura cants her head to the side, keeping her teeth from being exposed.

Then she clucks her tongue. Wolf! Or not-wolf? She's not sure. Strange thing shave wandered these woods. Until there was a reason to presume danger, she wouldn't make herself the threatening target. She had more confidence in her ability than needless worry at what might happen.

She leaves her hands at her sides, slowly turning them to display empty palms toward the wolf.

Hey there, big guy. ]

Wolf bros unite? =3 Out in the woods, obviously.

[Guess who else likes to run in the middle of the night? THIS WOLF. While the Jon-human sleeps, Ghost goes out to run among the trees, hunting for whatever crossed his path. Lately though, he's noticed a lot more things from the not-Castle coming out into the woods, so he's taken to searching them out when he finds them, leaving the Jon-human increasingly more confused when he awakes the next morning. Jacob might notice the smells and sounds of a very large, pure white wolf...that's not quite a wolf running not far from him. He's much bigger than he ought to be, his features different than a garden-variety wolf you might find. If Jacob can sense that sort of thing, he might notice someone looking through Ghost's eyes, who doesn't seem to be aware that he's doing so.]

[Ghost can smell the other wolf, and while it's an unfamiliar wolf, he knows the smell. It reminds him of home, of his not-brothers and sisters. He'll slow down as he approaches the other wolf, jogging to where Jacob has come to rest. His posture is neutral, knowing another alpha wolf when he smells one, he knows well enough not to challenge it. Still, he's curious, as this wolf smells all wolf, with that slight scent of the castle clinging to him. It's the first real wolf he's encountered here.]

In the woods...

[personal profile] blazing_stag 2012-04-23 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[James had taken to going out into the woods at night. It was more fun that just once a month and since some of the people already knew about Prongs, and none of his teachers were here, he decided he might as well.

So he was out in his stag form again, went he smelt wolf. Again. Trotting off in that direction, he wondered how many wolves were here.]

[The new wolf was nearby. He could smell it but not trace it. He was more cautious this time though. His experiences with the other wolf he'd met here reminded me that not all wolves would understand he wasn't prey. So he was ready at a moment's notice to transform and defend himself.

He continued to sniff and look around for the new wolf but his senses weren't really helping him much.]

hahaha. in the forest? /couldn't resist

[personal profile] fanstheflame 2012-04-24 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Gale had wandered out a little farther than he'd thought, and once it got dark, finding his way back was harder than he'd anticipated. he still knew it, for the most part - he'd already made note of some of the brighter stars and their relative directions, so he knows he just has to follow one back to Paradisa.

but then he hears that rustle in the leaves, and goes still. out here, in a forest he's still largely unfamiliar with? it could be anything]

[whoa. Gale's heart leaps into his throat at the sight of the wolf, but he stops and stands still, forcing himself to keep his breathing even. he's got enough common sense to know this probably isn't one of the wild mutts he's used to running from back home in Panem, but even as he tries to keep his calm, he's looking out of the corners of his eyes for the nearest tree. he can't outrun a wolf, not in unfamiliar terrain, and he doesn't want to get himself even more lost than he already is - so a tree is his best bet.

for the moment, it's just a stalemate, most likely, as they watch each other. your move, Jacob]
