I think I would have come home to a surprise, or maybe just a cake Dawn made with the help of Will and Tara. Anya probably would have made some comment about how terrible it looked before saying it tasted great because of a disapproving look Xander and everyone else in the room would give her. We'd probably watch a movie or play a board game, and then afterwards, we'd talk and make jokes. For a moment I'd feel like I was normal--like this is the lifestyle I... We should have grown up with.

Do birthdays even matter here? No point in celebrating getting a year older if that's not something that happens here.


I feel like every time I find myself settling down or getting into a routine this place slips something or teleports us somewhere to get me all wound up again. I had a good set schedule at home. Even if it involved getting my kid sister off to school durning the morning and staking vamps at night, at least it was reliable. [ She may or may not be serious about that last statement. ] Lesson learned, Paradisa: Don't get comfortable.

Here's to new beginnings and taking chances and all that stuff.

Well, that's certainly one way to look at it. So, you like being in the unknown and waking up to different things?

That is, um, that happens a lot, to me. If I thought only about all the bad things, it would be hard to see the good things, at all. I can't stop the bad things, from happening, but I can, enjoy the good things, while they're there.
