[Written in the Once-ler's journal today appears to be some sort of...very bizarre shopping list. Unfortunately for him, as he's been holed up in his room for a while his unless-es have taken the opportunity to appear on the page, too. Here and there, scattered in corners and between margins. Taunting him with their wordy-ness. He tries to scribble a few out, but more appear in their place, so he just gives up and goes back to writing.

- 15 cents
- One (1) nail
- One (1) shell of a great, great great grandfather snail

He taps his chin with his pen, making a thoughtful noise, before muttering to himself]

Maybe that's too easy.

[Oh, and then he remembers the journal picks this sort of thing up. Oops. He'll just continue talking as if he meant for that to be overheard]

So, anyway. Fairy tales. Was that some of the quote-unquote 'weirdness' you guys have been warning me about? Because I've got to tell you, it sounded a lot more like you people losing it and putting on pretty dresses than anything magical.

Maybe that's all these losses are. Just brief moments of collective insanity. That's my theory, anyway.

Really? Darn, I had a song all written up for you, but the chorus involved you and your crustacean buddy jiving it up because you could.

It also has a lot of sha-la-la's in it, because those are important for mermaid princess songs.

I do not think losses are just moments of temporary insanity. Especially not the permanent ones.

Yeah, aside from the snail thing it's pretty easy to find lying around.

But what if the permanent losses are just... permanent pieces of insanity. We could all be dreaming we're in a magical castle.

I suppose someone would have to be insane to completely forget ever getting married. If it is a dream, it is a very vivid one.
