So, I woke up this morning to find all my stuff cleaned up and arranged and put away. Since there's no one else who could've would've done that but you, I have questions: 1. Why? 2. When? 3.
[His face falls--he really has been very happy about his bike, but now Edgeworth is picking on him for it (not the he really expected anything else)...
"I guess I've had it for a long time." Since college, not that it matters. /emo]
[Notices the polish and cloth. He then takes one of the strips of cloth, dabs a bit of the polish on it, and hesitantly applies the cloth to bike, slowly and unsurely swiping it across the handlebar.]
[This second attempt at kindness (and unspoken apology, or something close to it?) doesn't go unheeded, and Phoenix kneels next to Edgeworth with a smile.
"You don't really have to. Wouldn't want you to smell like polish all day."
He picks up another rag and rubs in the polish with vigor.]
[Phoenix scoots to one side to avoid the spilled polish, and dives for some more spare rags to attempt to mop it up with. Unfortunately it's sort of soaking into the bamboo. He pinches his nose--the smell is nasty.]
[He frowns and pokes at the smelly tatami. Oh well; he'll just ask the castle for a new one later. For now, he stands up and crosses over to the window, pushing it open and waving his hands around in an attempt to explain that he's doing it for fresh air.]
["I'm not that broken up about some spilled polish." A smile. No, he's actually a lot more concerned about how much you seem to be hating on yourself, Edgeworth.]
[Awkward silence is awkward, and Phoenix is fidgeting and antsy; he'd like nothing more than to convince Edgeworth his help really has been appreciated, but he knows better than to think he'd ever be believed if he tried.

You know, it would perhaps be easier if only you had gotten your licen--
[And at that, he attempts to reach for the bottle, and knocks it over , the polish promptly spilling out onto the tatami.]
...Damn it!
