[Here Spike was, coming back to his room after some quality time at a bar, innocently going about his day. Usual stuff. When he gets there, he doesn't bother to flip the lights on, and throws his jacket to where a chair usually sits -- only to hear it fall to the floor instead (...coincidentally causing the journal to fly out of it...). Huh.

He doesn't dwell on it though. Maybe he moved the chair and doesn't remember. Or he's more tipsy than he thought, which is always possible. Then he takes a step and immediately runs into something.]

Ow.

[-- what the? That's when he flips on the light to see a pile of shopping bags. ...

Recognition (very) slowly dawns on him as he has a better look around and gets incrementally more disturbed. Why... is he in Faye's room? How does that even happen? Did he forget what floor he was on? That's when he hears someone (who definitely isn't Faye) call out from the bed to turn off the light. That snaps his attention back to ask a much more pressing question.]

Who the hell are you?

[Spike nods towards the bed to explain to Joshua what he meant, before he remembers that he's supposed to be pissed at him. Whatever.]

It's your room. [All her things are getting touched if she doesn't fess up soon.] And he doesn't seem to know.

[ Heheh don't worry he'll make it up to you. Not really but it wasn't malicious! He just sees no point in lying.

Curious what Faye might admit to, he stays quiet. ]

I didn't do anything! [might as well start there]

[The point in lying is you don't get yelled at, like he is now that Faye knows he's in here.]

[yeah, she sounds pretty accusatory... despite how ridiculous of a notion that would actually be]

[Yes. He is telling her, and suddenly he's wondering why he didn't start with the suspicion to begin with. There's no way she didn't influence this somehow.]

[ Oh this is interesting. He'll just stay right where he is and keep listening. Until he gets bored in about five minutes, anyhow... ]

[Joshua will have entertainment for a while-- they can play the blame game for hours. There are plenty of romance novels, magazines, and houseplant books to dig into while he waits. She obviously won't mind.]

[...and, it is now re-dawning on her that Joshua is in her room]

... [Hello leverage.] How about you work on getting the door open and we'll talk.

How mean. It's not like she can do anything...

[He frowns at Joshua's comment; stop saying that, he's getting out of here.]

Maybe track down who did it.

Whatever is causing this, it's because of one of you two!

[More like she's too stubborn to do anything he says. There's a measured pause while Spike builds up his wall of not-giving-a-damn.]

That solves the mystery. [If he sounds more distant, it's because he's now taking a closer look at her room and what he can make use of. If he's going to be trapped here...]

[ The air just got a little heavier in here, but...that's probably just because it's getting stale or something, right? ]

[there's a pause while she falters, just a little. Joshua using her first name like that stands out so strangely when she hears it. It's just enough wrong to break up her angry momentum a bit]

[For once, Spike stays quiet, because suddenly he's very focused on what Joshua's playing at. Who (he has to remind himself) isn't human. And a friend of Faye's...

This is starting to feel too familiar.]

I keep saying! It's a loss. What else could it be? Nobody in the Peace Patrol would be stupid or reckless enough to trap me in random rooms with innocent bystanders or weaker members. And anyone else with a vendetta against me would have locked me in rooms with the few here actually stronger than me.

And then there are the people like you, who don't have the intelligence, abilities, or motivation to pull off such a scheme.

So I think that just leaves the castle, don't you?
