Hmmm, the week we've just had, in the UK it is considered the most depressing week of the year. Although I seemed to have been too distracted to really notice it. However, it does seem a peculiarly British to note down when that is.

Oh, did you get to see many of the sights?

...Not...really, honestly. I did not have much time at my leisure. I had been there mainly to observe court proceedings and research the judicial system there.

Oh that's a shame, it's quite a stunning place.

What's more of a shame is the fact that I've travelled to and stayed in several countries and have seen very little of most of them.

Why were you studying different systems?

It is partly due to the fact that I am a prosecutor, and partly due to the fact that I had an incredibly...dedicated mentor, to say the very least.

Ah...that's a shame, still did it pay off? The dedication?

It would have, provided I hadn't spent most of my life going about it in a way that may very well have earned me the noose had I persisted.

Oh...was there a reason for that?

I was raised to believe that using underhanded tactics to gain a guilty verdict was preferable over losing a case...


[Suddenly self-conscious for casually exposing such intimate details with a stranger..]


My apologies...I've said so much and we've yet met.

That's alright, it sounds like an honourable thing to have done. Fight against that I mean.
