[Maybe someday Phoenix will be used to living life as a non-human; the way things have been going lately, it seems that's the direction the castle is pushing him in. After all, it's going on a week since he woke up and found himself turned into a bird.

Well, not just a bird--a large, deep blue phoenix, because the castle has a very stupid sense of humor which he does not appreciate at all.

He's fully aware that he's stuck in this ridiculous form, but since he can't talk or communicate with anyone and he really doesn't want anyone to find out about this nonsense, he's been keeping to himself as much as possible. Unfortunately this means he's now officially run out of the junk food he's been eating in his room, and the castle--of course--isn't granting his wishes for more.

With no other solution presenting itself, he's forced to soar through the halls of the castle--and that's just what he's doing this evening... flying and searching and hoping to find food somewhere.]


((Phoenix is on a phoenix loss. Feel free to bother the huge fiery blue bird. ;D))

How about walking? He tries walking human-style on his two large talons to prove his point.]

[Sorry pal, but she's seen plenty of animals that walk up-right.]

Is it... your wings? Do you not want to fly?

[She's not even close and he's frustrated, so he curses under his breath.

It, unfortunately, comes out as a less-than-elegant squawk.]

[She gasps...]

Such language! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

[... because apparently she can understand squawk.]

[She... knows what he said? Okay...

Tentatively, he tries chirping, "You can understand me?"]

Well, yes. Helping animals is my special talent.

[takethat]

"Is it really?"

[He pseudo-sighs in a moment of relief--maybe now he'll be able to get the truth across.]

"But I'm not really an animal!"

[3_butterflies]

You're... not?

[takethat]

"The castle did this to me!"

[He stops himself just short of uttering another curse. Best not to get lectured again by a pegasus today...]

[3_butterflies]

Oh... you mean a loss? ... I understand, I've been through that before.

[takethat]

"This is my first one..."

[And he's not happy about that. Too, his stomach is growling!]

[3_butterflies]

You poor thing... and why didn't you say you were hungry/ We should get you fed right away.

[takethat]

[He doesn't want to admit it, but being babied like this is kind of nice. At least... it makes being a giant bird that much more tolerable. He gives a pathetic little cluck.]

"I ran out of food in my room."

[3_butterflies]

We could go to the kitchen. They have food for every kind of being there is, all the time.

"Good idea!"

[He actually had no idea the kitchen was that well-stocked, but it sounds like a plan to head there.]

[3_butterflies]

[She smiles, and begins to walk.]

These losses don't tend to last very long... I've been human a few times, but they were over before I knew it.

[He struggles to get airborne again, but manages, and flies along behind her.]

"Really? How'd you feel about being human?"

[3_butterflies]

It was... very strange. Every time it happens to me, it takes a few days to adjust... I have to re-learn how to walk, and make sure to eat right...

"It's happened to you more than once?"

[That doesn't bode well for his future.]

[3_butterflies]

Three times, actually...

[takethat]

"Holy--uh, holy cow."

[He will be forever watching his language around Fluttershy now.]

"I hope this is it for me being turned into something else. I don't think I have the skill to be anything but human."

[Oh he's still terrible at flying, especially making those corner turns, but he continues flapping along behind her as well as he can despite almost crashing into the walls a few times as he goes.]

I don't think so... you just need patience and practice, that's all. And you don't have to fly if you don't want too.

[She nods to her own wings, which are folded up at the sides.

I prefer walking over flying myself...

[Oh, true--he hadn't seen her flying at all, and hadn't even really noticed her wings until she pointed them out.]

"Can't say as I blame you... flying's no walk in the park."

[Rest assured, he's laughing on the inside at his own bad joke...]

[She smiles. Well, she thinks you're funny.]

I just like being on the ground more... flying can be kind of scary, and I can be closer to animals this way.

[He thinks a moment before admitting one of his major reasons for not liking to fly.]

"I'm afraid of heights!"
