[A small sigh. It's been a while since Rin has last talked over the journals; she's feeling a little contemplative.]
Who else remembers the spring where it rained the whole time? I think we were heading out to explore then... to the place where we found Roy. I remember because there was water all over the ground, it was soaked and no fun trying to find a good place to sleep.
When I say that it sounds like I'm leading up to complain. But actually, I liked it. It makes it somehow nicer to be indoors when it's pouring rain outside... it's nice to listen to the rain, and it smells good outside afterward. Sunshine all the time gets a little samey anyway. Not that I would want good weather to go away again either.
[What is she even talking about? Rin falls silent briefly, until a small voice pipes up from a short distance away:] Mama, can I see it? [And Rin makes a small noise, drawing in her breath.] Ah, Renzo, no... why don't I tell you a story or something?
[And for those who might be around the outpost in the dead zone, Rin is just sitting slightly outside the entrance. Her three Pokémon and Legato are scattered around her at varying distance, but Rin herself is ignoring all of them, bending down slightly to open her arms and lift up... her son. Yeah.
Playing the single mom here. There you go.]

Hey, what happened to those giant alligators and frogs anyway?
no subject
Anyway, I'm not sure whatever happened to them. I think they disappeared sort of like they came. [A bemused little moment.] Maybe they went back into the mud.

[thinks about this] Could be. Wouldn't surprise me in this place.

[This is interesting enough that she disregards all the rest of it.]

And another small voice pipes up from the background.] Who's that?
[Pardon Galadriel as she turns away from the journal for a moment.] This is Rin, Finrod. Remember what I said of her?
Hello, Rin!

Renzo stirs a bit in Rin's arm, making an inquisitive little noise at the sounds of another child. Rin finds her tongue in a second.]
Ah - hello, Finrod! And Galadriel. [Rin's tone warms up a little from its relative flatness.] Renzo's come back a few times now... his, er, well, his other parent isn't here anymore. Galadriel, did you get... set up with anybody?

The castle did see fit to provide me with some assistance in the form of Finrod's "Uncle Greg." [Which is also awkward because House is an ass.]
Galadriel forever
Rin forever

That was fun! [Galadriel finds it a little more on the unnerving side, but she won't tell him that.]

Heeeeey! Long time, no see!

[And as soon as she's close enough, Galadriel will lean over and give Rin a quick kiss on the forehead. It's a little more difficult with a toddler in her arms, but she can manage it.]
no subject
Mama, who's that?
[Rin herself starts slightly and then puts her arms around Galadriel, carefully, so as not to hurt the child she's carrying.]
It won't be much longer if I have my way.

[Well, the cat parts are certainly odd, but far be it from Galadriel to say anything. After returning the hug, she just laughs and sets Finrod on the ground.]
Forgive me, it seems introductions are in order. [She bends down to Renzo's level and offers a brilliant smile.] I am Galadriel, little one, and this is my son Finrod. [The boy offers a clumsy attempt at a bow.]

... What do you suppose they're up to, right now? Reno and Roy ...
no subject
Maybe they're having some kind of rugged springtime honeymoon out in the dead zone.

[but then again, Five is Forever Clueless About That Sort Of Thing, so you're probably right, Rin.]
